Well, I was celebrating Saturday night as the Fighting Irish came away with a big win over USC in California. 20-16 was the final score. It was the first time in a long time the Irish have won in this rivalry. Over the years, ND still holds the all-time edge in wins.
On a different note, it has come to my attention that some may be blogging anymore, because of my "Correct" perception of Boise State. I have 1 word..."AWWWWWWWWWWWW".
How do you expect to compete with an SEC or PAC 10 schedule when you can't beat all the teams in the WAC while untested, uninjured, and well rested? Answer: you can't. Things have a way of working out. This case no different. Even if they had beat Nevada, they still wouldn't have to face a conference championship game like Auburn has when it has to play a 13th game this week against a very tough South Carolina team. Auburn ought to be the team upset with the schedules. If they lose this week, even after an undeafeated regular season, they probably won't get to play in the title game.
O well, at 230am Saturday morning I was smiling. Maybe next year....

Congratulations to those Irishmen for taking down the Lane Kiffin Trojans.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if your perception was as much "Correct" as it was just inevitable. I can predict there will be a hurricane somewhere in the next year just like Boise State was bound to lose sometime. It wasn't like they lost to Bowling Green or Troy. They lost (choked) too a a very good, top 20 football team.
Yes...I think we all know that the SEC is the superior conference in college football. The schedules are "Murders Row" in the SEC and they certainly get credit for it when it comes to the BCS rankings.
What I think we have here is an ability to be objective when it comes to this matter. I don't like Boise State, but I don't hate them. I hate Ohio State but can admit that they are a top 10 ten, maybe top 5. I don't think they could go toe to toe, week in and week out in the SEC but we really don't know cuz they don't play in the SEC. Does anyone really think Auburn, LSU, or Alabama would beat Boise State's opponents by double what Boise State was beating them by?
Boise State has very prolific offense with a good but at times suspect defense. Sounds like another team in the country... #1 Auburn. As I have mentioned numerous times before (objectively) Boise was ranked number 3 in the country at the beginning of the year. Why??? I guess we would have to ask all those people that voted for them and why they put such an inferior team at #3. I doubt it was the fact that they were actually any good... Right?
The bottom line in my opinion is that Boise is a very good football team and deserved the opportunity to defend their #3 ranking, in which they did until they lost. Bottom line is they were ranked #3 and should have been given a chance to vie for a national championship until they lost. Now they have to go to the back of the bus like everyone else who loses.
This isn't a defend Boise State rant but a rant to defend commonsense and objectively determine who is a very good football team.
Again, I think Boise State is a very good football team that CAN compete with anyone in the country. Again... I said can compete, NOT win all their games and be a national champ.
With Boise State gone, we can now focus our attention on TCU. Aren't they Boise State's twin??? Haven't heard anything about them all year.
I have not posted on here in a while, partly with the fact that the only conversation is about Boise State. Commish, you sound like the jaded ex-girlfriend who is dumped by her boyfriend, only to find solace in him being dumped by another. I just don't get the fascination with this story. You are correct, things do have a way of working themselves out. Even if they had made it to a 'ship, they would have gotten blasted, right? So its a win win for the ex-girlfriend. Can't we talk about something else? Maybe Duke running the table and repeating as National Champions, in a real sport where a playoff determines the national championship. Talking about NCAA football to me is a waste of time until they do something to change the f'd up way the determine a champion. My silent boycott of anything NCAA football begins now......PAUSE....Notre Dame is the NCAA's equivalent to the passenger who rides in the sidecar of a motorcycle....IRRELEVANT!!! Boycott back on.
ReplyDeleteYesssssss, let's talk about something interesting like Duke basketball!!!! Yip Yip Yipeeeeee! I don't have enough tissues to wipe up all the salivating.
ReplyDeleteHey, Mass....you can blog about any topic you'd like....you don't have to just "comment". Bring something else to the table and let's discuss it. I'm all for a variety of topics. We all have different personalities and views. Sharing those is what makes a blog community interesting. So if you want to talk about Duke and Kshevickyfjeosias s' crooked nose, or how to bake a great holdiay ham, let's do it!
And....i'm still glad BS State lost and didn't even have to play a national powerhouse school to do so.
