After watching the game I am still convinced that BS is a top 5 team but what shocked me more was how unimpressive VT looked. Sure VT led most of the second half but I it was the usual VT "old faithfuls" that seemed to let them down.
1) VT is known for "Beamer Ball" and their outstanding special teams play. Last night BS special teams shit on VT special teams.
2) VT vaunted agressive defense was present at times but did not perform to a consistent level. 3) VT was supposed to have one of the best 1-2 punch running back combos in college football but only managed to muster up a measly 128 yds rushing against BS.
4) VT is very one dimensional and if they didn't have a running QB they would not be as good. When they play faster teams they will struggle.
Boise State looked more like a national contender than I was willing to admit a few days ago. After last nights game I feel they could be a legitimate contender.
1) Their offense is explosive and I feel they can put up a lot of points against any team in the country.
2) There defense is much better than I thought and if they play consistently well like they did last night... they can compete with anyone.
3) Boise has to run the table or there is no shot in hell for a national championship.
I've changed my tune a bit since our original BS blog posts.
Sure their schedule is weak but they are prisoners to their own conference. Their 2 big out of conference games are VT and Oregon State who are both ranked teams and none of the big boys will play them, especially on the blue turf.
Frank made a good point earlier. These teams have a month to prepare and rest for the big game. So what if Florida plays in the SEC... they have a month to get ready and rest so they will be just as fresh as BS when they meet in the BSC final. (Florida is just an example)
It's a long season and to early to tell anything yet but BS has made through their toughest hurdle so far.
On a side note.... Yesterday was FIGJAM's tenth try at over taking Woods for the #1 ranking. Guess who is still #1

I will still stand by my prior comments.....I'm not ready yet to suck the blue kool-aid of the BS Broncos.
ReplyDeleteYes, last night it was evident that Boise was the better TEAM. Va Tech had the better athlete in Tyrod Taylor. However, I never said Va Tech was the be all, end all of college football. If you look back over my comments I claimed Va Tech would do their usual 9-3. If they didn't have Tyrod Taylor they may go 6-6.
BS played better in all facets. But, let's also acknowledge that the majority of BS's starters were returning, while Va Tech only had a couple of returning starters. The majority of the defense had started 2 or less games. So while BS was the better TEAM, let's not overlook the fact that they only beat a marginal, one dimensional, one athlete, young team by a couple of points.
A win is a win and I give them 100% credit for that. They don't always have to be pretty. But, here's the rub, which I've always stressed:
While BS Broncos have to get ready for (I'm scared) Wyoming next week, Notre Dame has to play Michigan, Miami has to travel to Ohio St., and Florida St. travels to Oklahoma! Matter of fact, compare the next 3 games for these same teams.
Notre Dame plays Michigan, Michigan St., and Stanford in that order.
Florida St. gets Oklahome, BYU, and Wake Forest.
U of Miami travels to Ohio St., then plays Pitt. and Clemson
Who does BS have? Try Wyoming, Oregon St. (their only other tough game of the year) and New Mexico St. (I think the last title New Mexico St. won was in helping the illegals cross the border!)
Hit me, bash me, call me bad names, it's just my opinion
Commish, I have to admit, I am now a dumber person for having reading the above post. You are arguing that Miami, Florida St, and Ohio St have big games this week but please please tell me what was sp special about their week 1 opponent. Dumbest arguement ever.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Tyrod Taylor kept them in the hgame with his legs but he sure lost it with his arm. How many deep balls can one person under throw in one game.
As for golf, what does number 1 in the world get you? Doesnt it boil down to winning tournaments? Tiger looked real cute with the goat on his face
Speaking of dumbest arguments ever... in order to be #1 one would think that person won a lot more than everyone else. Being #1 gets you a net worth of a billion dollars. Being #1 gets you more majors and wins then everyone you have played against (and it's not even close). Being #1 gets you all the pussy you can handle. Being #1, even when you suck, means no one else is good enough to pass you even when you suck.
ReplyDeleteThe Yankees are in first place because they have won the most games and this gives them the opportunity to play in the playoffs and a chance at the world series. The Orioles are in last place because they have lost the most games and this gives them a chance for bloggers to talk about what they need do to win which is sell the team.
Not everyone can grow facial hair but there are some helpful tips that may help the growing process.
1) Shave more often to promote faster hair growth.
2) Wash facial hair with gentle shampoos and conditioners to promote healthier hair growth.
3) Eat a well balanced, nutritional, high protein diet to promote healthier hair growth.
Not everyone can be fat and try to wear Ian Poulter sized clothes but lack of focus can cloud ones fashion judgement.
I'm curious... Is it really necessary for bloggers to talk shit to each other on this site when they work at sit 10 feet from each other all day? Just yell across the cubicle and tell him how you feel.
I'm just saying
I would yell but the Commish sits in his office, watches tv, asks like he is busy and waits for the end of the day to get here. He occasionally picks up the phone to act like he is talking to soemone.
ReplyDeleteAs far as #1 goes I wasn't really arguing, I was basically saying what does it matter. I could really care less in the sport of golf who is what. Sure I like Phil, but it really doesn't matter to me what rank he is because its not like he is seeded in a tournaemt or gets an advantage. I really also could care less if he wins or loses as well, I sleep just the same.
Okay i rarely try to agree with the Commish but anyone that argues for BS even if it is just to piss the Commish off can never say anything about someones arguement being dumb.
ReplyDeleteFlorida States, i cant really argue the toughness of their game but it was a special game set up for Bowdens last year but that was all blown to hell when they FIRED him oops i mean he retired.
Its simply all the teams we spoke of play 1 maybe 2 teams that are as bad as teams BS plays everyweek.
I too like the Buck have changed my opinion just a little on BS, they are better than i thought but still dont think they could contend for a championship.
BS reminds me of Del state a couple years ago, they rolled through their conference and lost just one or two games and couldnt believe they werent a top 3 seed. They played teams that Wesley would have beat. BS if you want a championship then go play someone. And im sure the arguement no one wants to play them will come up. REALLY Oklahoma vs FSU ND vs Mich, PSU vs ALA, Mia vs OSU, Ore vs Tenn, so you are telling me that these teams would play eachother but are afraid of BS hahahahahahaha
As for golf, i will care again when the Ryder Cup starts
Da Booth, I'm sure all the teams/matchups that you list will play a home and home series which translates to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. WHo wants to go to Boise and play. I know. Noone, because there is no $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
ReplyDeleteTrue everything in college sports comes down to money, how much will each team get how much can a player get from an agent. But in this case these games are rematches from past national championship games and one time deals. FSU would get as much money roughly playing at Oklahoma as they would BSU. Im sure ND would play them anyday cause they have their own TV deal and already get that money.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it matter with ND, they are not nor have been a BCS contender. I am sure nationally ranked teams would have been lining up the last few years to play ND because lets face it, they have been terrible recently.
