Finally Over

After what seemed like 6 months of playoffs the NBA is finally over. I watch NBA every once in a while but never really watched full games until this years finals. After watching these games I have come to the conclusion that Donaghy the official that was fired for gambling on games is very creditable in what he says about the officiating of games. If i had any money at all i would have bet it all on the Lakers to win. Not because they were the better team, but because their is no way the NBA was going to let Kobe and Phil lose that championship. Their were hardly any fouls called until the point when it looked like the Celtics were going to pull away and win. Yes the Celtics played pretty bad also to help but their were about 10 calls late in the game i remember that were so bias that even the Lakers couldnt believe were called.

In all sports their are times Refs/umps blow calls or seem to make onesided calls. But its everygame you can almost guess how games will be called and who will win. I just cant believe that David Stern doesnt care that it is so obvious that games are semi rigged by the officials. I guess thats why i like the Wizards i dont have to worry about them losing because of the refs, they just suck.

The Commish i have joined your team in the hatred of the NBA

  1. Da Booth.....I am glad to know that I am not the only one to finally feel this way!

I, too, have tried to watch some of the playoff games. Most of the time I can only take a few minutes at a time. Last night I did watch the 7th game of the finals. I really had to force myself to watch and not turn the channel. Why?

Well, for one the NBA has too much stopping and starting... I never saw more than 2 consecutive possessions in a row. Meaning 1 team has the ball, scores, then the other team inbounds, goes up the court, etc... A foul is called on almost every or at least every other possession! Plus, as Da Booth points out, the fouls seemed to be called subjectively, not based on reality...

Last night's game was typical NBA. In the 2nd half it seemed like the Lakers were going to the foul line on every possession. I'm sure there were more, but I can only remember the Celtics (Pierce) going once. You want to tell me only 1 team committs fouls in the 2nd half!

I used to watch NBA when Dr J played. I really like the 76ers in the 70's and early 80's. The game seemed honest. Then the NBA went through this transformation of being more than a sport into now more of a merchandise and entertainment facilitator. It's now based on jersey sales, slam dunk competitions, and a place for white people to go be entertained. (Be honest, watch an NBA game on TV and 95% of the people in the stands are whitey)

I almost put the NBA in the same category as Pro Wrestling. The outcomes almost seem predetermined based on who's playing and who's the home team. I guarantee the Minnesota Timberwolves will never beat the Lakers in LA without playing flawless, out of their mind because teams like that will never get a call in the home arena of an "upper echelon" team. I knew when Boston lost game 4 at home that would not win the series because that meant they could not win on their home floor in 5 games. There would be a game 6 and possible game 7 in LA and there was no way the NBA would not make sure LA would lose the series on their on floor.

Best advice: don't bet money on the NBA unless you bet on the home team.
