Once Again

I'm sure everyone has seen the recent news pertaining to the attempted car bombing in NYC. Yes... the bomb did not ignite and fortunately the mastermind(s) behind the bomb is a idiot and failed to succeed. It was a crude bomb made up of gas cans, propane tanks, fireworks, and kitchen timers. Even found 100 lb bags of fertilizer in the vehicle but the fertilizer was not the kind that would of caused a huge explosion like kinds used in bombs before.

Knowing all this the idiot bomb maker was still just a technical oversight away from possibly causing severe damage and death to many.

Sure... we don't know if the suspect(s) are foreign terrorists or home grown terrorists looking to kill their own.

This event and something I did this past week prompted me to write another excerpt pertaining to our safety.

Last week I fortunate to attend a 5 day training course related to "Active Shooter" training. The course was put on by GTI which is a private company that trains government and local police agencies in SWAT and Immediate Action Response.

Basically I was taught how to respond to Active Shooter scenarios and how to quickly neutralize (kill) the threat(s). Very intense course and a lot of hands on training including live force on force training where we used live simunitions rounds against live shooters.

Part of class goes over the history of Active Shooter cases such as Columbine and V Tech shootings.

One thing that is very clear is that it will happen someday in our state. Maybe not in our kids' schools but close by.

Another thing that is very scary is that foreign terrorists could possibly be planning future assaults against our most precious thing... Our Children. (check out the Beslan School Massacre of 2004 if you want to see some scary fucked up stuff).

What better way to strike fear in us all then to over take a school and inflict mass casualties against our children.

This blog is not an attempt to scare but an attempt to educate. It's very easy to become complacent and think these types of things won't happen here or to us.

Schools have their so called "lock down" procedures and I wonder how seriously they are taken. How much they are practiced on a regular basis. Not to long (not in DE) ago a teacher was confronted by a SRO as to why they had their rear classroom door open. The teacher said it was hot and he was letting air in. The SRO told the teacher to close it for security purposes and teacher closed the door at the SRO's order. Seconds later when the SRO left the teacher reopened the door. 45 minutes later an Active Shooter entered thru that door and killed 5 people.

For those who have kids, loved ones, and friends who work in schools please be aware. Check out your school's policy if such a event might occur. When you visit the school see how easy or uneasy it is to gain access into other parts of the school.

See how long you can walk around until confronted by admin, a teacher, etc... If it's longer than 1 minute then walk to the Principal's office and rip them a new asshole!!!!

This is no joke. I take my kids' life, my wife's life, my families' life, and my friends' life very seriously. I hope you do too?

God forbid something did happen and it could of been prevented by just a simple thing as keeping all doors and windows locked.

It seems like no one cares or does the right thing until something bad happens. Unfortunately it takes a bad thing to happen for change and rules to be thoroughly followed.

I don't really care. I will be the dickhead that jumps down the Principal's or teacher's throat because my loved ones are more important then their feelings and what they think about me.

Take a stand and lets make our schools and our loved ones' lives as safe as possible. Before it happens, not after it happens cuz it's going to happen.

  1. Interesting point The Buck...As a teacher, I will say that I do take these drills seriously and make my kids do the same...Although I am not sure of how practical it is to hide in your room if someone is in the building...Odds are we are dead anyway if they come in. I am maybe a little radical in that I think in this day and age the teachers should be armed to some degree...Why not have a locked cabinet with a weapon that teachers have been adequately trained on? That way, when the intruder enters the school, and you have your students locked in your room with you, you can act if someone tries to get in. I have always believed that, if handled correctly, this could increase safety for all involved.

  2. Ok
THe Buck, i agree it is a matter of time before something to some degree happens in our schools in delaware. I know we have a process set in place for what we are supposed to do when we have a unauthorized person in the school. I also know you could go to almost, well probably every school in our district and get in and walk around for atleast a minute or two and not be stopped atleast half the time. I know because i have done it, and that is sad. But in all honestly these steps have to be in place but to an extent they are useless.

I dont mean we shouldnt care, but lets take North Georgetown even if every door is locked what is stopping someone from walking in the front office and if they are willing to take lives their is no stopping them from getting access to the whole school. Dont take that as i dont care and we shouldnt do anything, i agree we need better precautions to stop this from happening, i am just pointing out when it comes to schools we are helpless if someone is truely willing to do something and that is horrific.

Mass i understand what you are saying, i agree having a drill where we close off everything and confine ourselves in a room is i think more harmful than helpful if someone were to come in trying to kill you. But as for letting teachers be armed i would be highly against that. I know the school i work in and about an est. of 100 staff members i wouldnt trust more then 15- 20 of them with a weapon not matter the reason.

I know money would be the issue but i have always thought schools should have armed guards. Trained professionals monitoring the school would make me feel alot more safe then teachers being armed.

  3. I think we are all on the same page and I'm sure there are a lot of teachers and admin who take this seriously.

And actually one of the safest places to be during one of these altercations is locked in the classroom.

My point in the blog was about the school being locked down and the lockdown protcol followed when it is implemented/needed.

I understand that the main door to the office is open and rightfully so. But if all other doors are locked then the perp has only one door to come in, then he can either start shooting in the office or leave cuz he can't get in the rest of the school. Sure, the office folks and admin will probably take the brunt of it but this gives time for the lockdown to go into affect and the teachers and kids to have a chance to lockdown.

History has proven that these cowards want to kill as many as they can as fast as they can.

They want the path of least resistance and don't want to waste time trying to break down a locked steel door to shoot some people. A lot more economical to find a open classroom to shoot people or shoot the people who are running thru the halls instead of staying in a locked and secure classroom.

They don't want to face any opposition as history has also shown. Most kill themselves when they know the police are moving in. Why do you think Cho (V Tech) chose the engineering department to blast away in and not the PE Dept.. Because he didn't want to have to deal with any 6'6 300lb football players who would of presented more of a threat to him.

I can also appreciate your thoughts on teachers being armed (or having access to guns) but lets face it... that's never going to happen.

Hell, admin and teachers already protest SROs having just TAZERS in school.

And get ready for this teachers.... Within a year all SROs are outta schools and will be replaced with civilians with arrest powers. Have fun with that.

If it ever does happen to you remember one thing. Don't let yourself be a victim. Fight back and don't just lie there waiting to get shot.

Keep moving and find whatever you can to make the shooter's job that much harder.

His gun will quickly run out of bullets and when he is taking 3 to 5 seconds to reload... Bust his ass!

  4. DA Booth... I forgot to respond to your response.

I agree with your response as to trusting teachers with guns.

Hell, there are some cops that I don't trust with guns and we go thru a 4 week background check.

As far as staying in the classroom goes... if you watch the Columbine video everyone shot was running around in hallways and the library. No one in classrooms were shot. Again, path of least resistance.

I totally agree with the armed guards in schools. Won't happen though, to much money plus our liberal society would not stand for armed guards in school.

I really suggest you look up the Beslan School incident. 186 kids were killed and countless parents killed during their opening day of school celebration.

Now they have armed guards with assault rifles everyday and armed guards go on all buses to trips and sporting events.

Why??? These people hold their kids' lives above everything else and don't care that little Jimmy might be distracted by armed guards. Don't care if parents are offended by guards with guns.

Trust me... when something bad happens the same liberal fucks will be bitching about why nothing was done to help prevent this.
