On Pace

3 wins in 3 weeks on pace for 26 wins this year

Just finished watching the Orioles actually pull off a late win and not give up a lose. The bullpen tried their best to lose but luckily Clay Meredith came in and accidentally got two outs to secure a victory.

You really cant put any single blame on any part of this team. They have all taken equal opportunities in losing games. I will say the starters with the exception of Bergeson have been fine.

They are showing signs of hitting and i think will be tearing it up offensively here in the next couple of weeks. Just need to let the Starting Pitchers go all 9.

I complained that the bullpen was terrible before the season started and was told on here that the bullpen would be good, im just wondering when are those guys going to start pitching. Even JJ is stinking it up, dont worry Koji is coming soon.

I was wrong on Atkins not starting by May didnt think it would be this soon. Rhyne Hughes was a great pick up.

But seriously the O's have lost a lot of close games, and were in one of the worst hitting slumps as a team that i have ever seen. They should improve on their 3 wins in 3 weeks and finish 500, ok hopefully they dont get 100 loses.

  1. It seems super crazy to say this, but they could very easily be 14-3 instead of 3-14. I have never seen a team lose this many close games. Da Booth I have to disagree a little as I feel there problems boil down to 2 main things....Situational hitting and bullpen. These guys cannot get runners over or in with less than 2 outs...If there is 2 outs, forget about it. It was nice to see Nick and Miggy get clutch 2 out hits today, but that might be the first 2 of the year. Here is my plan for fixing the bullpen.
    Dump Albers
    Send Mickolio down
    Koji's back
    Bring up Arrieta
In a couple weeks, bring up Simon and Bergy.
Starters: Millwood, Guts, Matusz, Bergy, Arrieta
Bullpen: Koji, JJ, Simon, Berken, Hernandez, Hendrickson, Ohman/Castillo

They are grooming Simon in AAA to be a reliever. What a noble idea! The guy throws 98 with a splitter. That has closer written all over it. I saw him pitch in spring training and his stuff looks filthy. He is pitching well in the minors so if he looks good in the inning at a time role, bring him up.
I think they need to go with the mentality of getting there best pitchers on the team, regardless of role. That stuff can work itself out once they are up here. I feel like the bats are getting ready to finally get hot. But I've felt that way before.

  2. Mass do you like to disagree with me just for the hell of it. I blamed the problems on everything but the Starters. Then you blamed it on hitting and the bullpen, i think thats the same.

We are on the same team, so as your captain you are not allowed to disagree with me until after May 8th. Starting now.

  3. A lot of people have dismissed my view, but I think this season could be sitting very differently.

I am a huge believer in momentum, confidence, and karma. Especially with such a young team. Scott Garceau dismissed me and claimed, correctly, that a lot of these young players were not on the team before or at least not for long. But they're not dumb! They know this organization is on a losing streak. The psyche of these guys is fragile.

Opening weekend the Os played the Rays who are picked as a possible world series contender. This same group should have been 3-1 at the of that 1st weekend. Instead, and after 2 brutally pathetic performance by Mike Gonzalex, they were 1-3. All games were hard fought, well played. You just can't keep asking the young position players to keep playing hard just to see the bullpen lose it in the late innings.

I'm tired of this bullpen. I've been witnessing bad bullpens for about 12 straight years now.

    Clean house

  4. I am going to take a different route on this one. I agree with Mass, this team has been in every game except for the Tampa blowout. I really think Dave Trembley needs to be shown the door, because he could be the dumbest manager I have ever seen. He makes Sam Perlozzo look like a Hall of Fame Manager.

The team has not been hitting, yes I understand this, but his lineups are anything but creative. Fore the first two weeks, all Nick wnated to do was draw a walk, so why not let him lead off. I hate it when Tejada hits second like he has a few times, because if the leadoff guy gets on its a double play waiting to happen. This team does not know how to advance runners, hardly ever bunts to move over runners, refuses to bunt when the stupid shift is on, and really never gets held accountable by the "hammer".

As far as handling a pitching staff goes, I am pretty sure that Trembley is dumb enough that if ever coached little league, he would screw up the pitching rules of innings pitched per week because he would try to match up. Everybody in Baltimore knows when you bring Jim Johnson in with runners on it never ends well, he is much better when he starts the inning. Will Ohman is pretty much the same way. Matt Albers has been used way to much, and really should be a long man as that was the role he has had success with. Berken and Hnedrickson have pitched well enough that they should be late inning guys for now, I know it didnt turn out well but in Henrickson's defense yesterday, he got big fat Papi to hit a tailor made double play ball but we were in that stupid shift and the 2b was not where he normally would have been.

I know the players have to perform and the pen has been terrible, but they continue to get used the same way and retard Dave does the same thing over and over. I say Fire Dave today, and get somebody to run this club that has some experiance and actually has a sack to man up to these guys.

  5. Yes i agree the O's have been in everygame. That was kinda my point that it has been stupid little things that have cost them 10 games atleast.

I wonder if they can fire Dave like they put guys on the DL. Make his firing retroactive to the start of the season and get your money back.

Stupid coaches should be taken into account when voting on Cy Young. MATUSZ ROY and CY

  6. I was saying that the other day...Dave and the bullpen are going to cost Matusz ROY...He should be 4-0 right now instead of 2-0 with 2 ND. And coach I am sorry, it will not happen again. I will write all my points down and flood you with them on the 9th.

  7. Thank you Mass, just for that you can be the Asst. Captain, i mean i doubt ill listen to you but you can have that title.

Never thought i would want Sherrill back this bad.

  8. Looks like Simon will be called up. I agree on Matusz, not only is it a shame that he should be 4-0, but his ERA should be alot lower as I know the bullpen has allowed at least 5 of his runs score

  9. I like it...He is quoted as saying he wants the ball, wants the challenge...Now if he gets shelled I will come back on here and crush him.

  10. I would like to take the time to apologize to my teammates for my recent absence and lack of response to this past Saturday's draft. Family obligations and my daughter's baptism took up all of my weekend.

With that being said I would like to congratulate those who were lucky enough to be selected to represent Team FIGJAM. I look forward to a great day of golf and the intense competition.

I would also like to extend my best wishes to Captain DA Booth and the members of Team Teeter Totter. May you play well but not well enough.

Due to my procrastination Captain DA Booth beat me to my preference in team shirt color. I was going to pick black in honor of Mr. Phil Mickelson but we shall honor him in another way... With a VICTORY!!!

I have decided that a orange(ish) shirt of some sort would be a fabulous choice. Please respond team members if this suits you as well. And yes CHIEF77... you can wear your black shoes and socks.
