In Andy i dont trust

McNabb to the Redskins for a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th next year

I wrote this post about five times and kept erasing everything i wanted to say. I will instead make it short and sweet. Andy is a dousche and this was a horrible trade. The 37th pick is a good pickup but why trade within the division. Chalk up two loses already for next year.

  1. Da Booth.....I feel for you man!

I look at this and just don't understand. I really don't have an issue with the trading of Mcnabb. He's getting older and Kevin Kolb really looked good in the 2 games he started last year. Maybe now would be a good time to get what you can for him while there's still value. The NFL is a business first and you always have to be looking towards the future.

What I don't understand is why to the Redskins? Trade him to anybody but the Skins, Cowboys, or Giants! Talk about letting something come back to bite you in the ass!
I find it hard to believe they couldn't get the same draft picks from anyone of the dozen NFL teams needing a quarterback

I heard this morning that they chose the skins because Any Reid wanted to work with McNabb and trade him to a team of his wishes and that was the Redskins. AW...waht a nice guy. No wonder McNabb wanted to go to the skins. Now he can use the motivation and be a thorn in Reid's fat side.

After all these years of playoffs and not getting over the "hump", maybe it wasn't McNabb's fault all along. Maybe instead it's time for Andy Reid to go?

  2. DaBooth, this is the Overreaction Department, we need to comment on your thread. While I understand that at first glance this does look like a pretty sketchy trade, I think when you factor in all the details, the Eagles are still in much better shape than the Skins. First, the whole picture won't be clear until after the draft when we see what players were had in all the extra picks Andy has secured. But even now, look at the Skins (sorry Rollin). There running backs are Portis(done), Parker(done) and Johnson (well done). They were the first team in NFL history to play without an offensive line last year (Patrick Swayze's character in Ghost was a better blocker). And there receivers are not in the same league as Jackson and Macklin. The Eagles have attempted to rebuild without sacrificing losses, and I really think that they have done a decent job. There key will be, as always, the O Line and the D, which is young but could be pretty good.

I actually think Reid has been doing a good job with his personnel decisions in the recent years. My problem with him is his philosophy that not running the ball can get you to the 'ship. Don't think that's going to work.

  3. There will be no Donovan McNabb in Washington come April 22.

There are 2 other teams in need of a QB that do not want to take the time to groom one... Rams & Raiders. Whom are very much interested in McNabb, they've already expressed that.

Hang on before you get too uptight, there's more to my theory.

The Redskins offered up Haynesworth first, and the Eagles passed on that idea.

Jeff Laurie is no idiot, and I have heard the he and "Baby Steinbrener" speak on regular basis. I would have to say ther is some language in the contract that will keep McNabb out of the NFC East.

Portis (true Mass) is on the way out. He and Shanahan didn't get along in Denver.

Parker and Johnson will have good seasons this year. Always happens when someone is unhappy and wants to show their former team that they are worth keeping. This also works well in a Shanahan 2 back system. Keep in mind they still have Betts and Cartright coming off the bench, great in their roles.

Theory - Washington puts together a deal with Haynesworth, McNabb, and Portis for a team in the top 5 pick. Will it be all 3 or 2 of the 3... I dont know, but I believe Mcnabb will; be included to go somewhere else come Draft Day.

  4. One other thing I would like to note...

I firmly believe that today's coach is not in control of anything. They make game-time and practice decisions, but when it comes down to it the owners are the ones making crucial decisions. Gone are the days of Jimmie Johnson, Buddy Ryan, Dan Reeves, coaches that made final decisions. This was ultimately the decision of the owners... believe what you want, I do.

  5. Mass it isnt really overreacting. I spend my time following one team and not split between two(jk) so i am feel i have a very good idea of his good and bad personel moves.

Lets think about just the big name players he has signed or drafted over the last 5 years or so.

Jackson in the 2nd - great
Maclin in the 1st - looks good
    Celek in 3rd or 4th - great
    Peters traded a 1st - good
    Avant late round - good
Stewart mid late round - looks good
    Mikkell mid round - great
    signed Samuel - good
    signed Weaver - great
    cole 5th round - great
finally cut shawn andrews - good

signed T.O. - great and bad

-traded 1st round to dallas - bad
-traded 1st round to Car who to a oline we could have had - bad
    -signed stacey andrews - bad
-refused to get oline help the last 3 years - bad
-traded 3rd round pick to the saints who selected bushrod(who they planned on taking that pick) started LT for saints in SB - bad
-signed witherspoon who played well then cut him - bad
    signed vick - bad
    - traded sheldon brown - bad
    - gave hanson 20+ million - horrible
    - traded for Hobbs - average
    - cut westbrook - bad
    - let dawkins go w/o even an offer - horrible
    - signed sean jones - bad
    - traded Mcnabb to skins - horrible

  6. I agree with most of the good/bad that you presented, but I think Kevin Kolb will be better than McNabb in the current system. Maybe not right away, but before it is all said and done. I just think it is big news right now but it won't be once everything plays out. I have faith.

  7. I don't follow the Eagles much but I know the DA Booth does and does so quite closely. I trust his sense on the topic and think he is spot on.

I am also willing to bet that he rattled off all those "good/bad" Eagle franchise decisions from memory and didn't have to consult wikipedia like most of us would have.

I think it is a piss poor trade. Everyone thinks that #5 is the reason the Eagles have struck out in the Superbowl. I guess Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, and Warren Moon were all bad QB's cuz they didn't win a Superbowl.

The man has great statistics, has won a lot of games and has gone to several NFC Championship games.

Maybe a Superbowl would of come Philly's way if the whole offense didn't revolve around screens and the defense didn't play bend but don't break defense.

Philly fans (the ones living in Philly) are idiots and totally believe McNabb is the reason for the Superbowl drought. I truely hope they get what they wish for.

Rollin... I do think you will see McNabb in a Skins uniform next year. I could be wrong but time will tell.

The Skins are looking for a QB and have been interviewing some of the QB's entering this years draft. Now they have McNabb and can keep him for a couple years until a more confident draft pick comes along.

Plus they get a proven, upper tier QB for the same or lesser price then they would pay for a unproven 1st round pick. Also, I think McNabb would love a chance to pull a Favre and get back at his old team.

Finally... How can anyone say Kolb is gonna be good? He may be but 2 games doesn't show me shit. His two full games were against KC ranked 22 pass def. and NO ranked 26 pass defense.
