Welcome Motorman, i would also like to know which 2 of you liers put you would shoot a 90-99 at Augusta.

ReplyDeleteI'm not going to say what I think people will shoot or won't shoot at Augusta and I assume the poll ? was based on tournament conditions?
Let us use Heritage Shores as an example. Nice, well maintained course, with pretty good difficulty. I have shot in the low 70's there when playing well. Granite I don't play much but there are days I can keep it together.
Now I know most of you and have played golf with a most of you.
I know DA Booth, Fritz, and Bottle CAN shoot in the 80s and when they play well can be in the low 80s with a good chance to break 80.
The tees we play at HS list at about 6450 yards and these tees aren't the tips. At The Masters the course is about 7450 yds. BIG BIG Difference. Go from hitting 6 irons into receptive greens at HS to hitting 3 irons and woods into AN rock hard greens. No chance!
The greens at HS are very nice, roll pretty true, and are quick. The greens at The Masters are fucking rediculous and are like table tops.
Then there is the undulation of the course at The Masters. HS is pretty flat with flat greens. At AN if you don't put your shot in the right place on the green you will have a putt from hell. The greens are so elevated and sloped that a a shot into the green (to short, long, left or right) and see ya ball.
And if this doesn't convince you then...
Zach Johnson is a top player on tour and he shot a 80 last year during the 2nd round. This guy would probably shoot like 63/64 at HS with his eyes closed.
So if you shoot in the 80's at HS and ZJ is shooting in the 80's at AN...
Then Yes! I think it is a spandex stretch!
I know there is no way in hell I would break 80 at AN. Maybe back in the day when I was a +2 but even then I would of had to play my ass off. I'm thinkig I would be some where in the high 80's right now.
And I don't want to hear any shit about Sandy Moore shooting a 75 there!!!
Only one question regarding the people playing... How the hell did u get a confirmation from anonymous??? Aren't they anonymous???
