Lets get this tournament going soon. I like the idea of a 2 day event. We could tee off at 2 on Friday, and 10 on Saturday. (just a suggestion) I say mid April at the latest. This will allow people to get home and back to wherever we can BBQ. Would like to see all of this happen guys. Tell/ask your wives NOW, not in 4 weeks. I would venture that most of you would be able to do this. A 5 on 5 tourney, unless "Anonymous" shows up and throws a monkey wrench in everything, is a great idea. Fritz, I believe, had teams set up the other day. Lets "roll" with the plans as soon as we possibly can. Everyone can bring something to BBQ as long as Fritz brings some of that cole slaw. I was pretty intoxicated, but I believe it was gooooo-ood. It kinda had something crunchy like that green jello mold Uncle Eddie fell in love with at dinner in Christmas Vacation.
So in the infamous words of Uncle Eddie...
Merry Christmas, tha shitter's full1!

Im in, lets get this shit together. I say April 2nd or April 9th. I have two requests for this event. 1. Bradley is not allowed to come to the BBQ and use a knife. 2. Their be cinabuns for Frank the Tank. We should also come up with the best team combinations and a good "friendly" wager.
ReplyDelete"I never apologize.
I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am."

I can't do April 9th, but April 2-3 is a full go for me. April 9th = Orioles home opener = I'm there. I will mention the BBQ to the wife...She is preggers so we will need plenty of food. Also, I am okay with the teams, me and the booths will be ready to roll. I think we should do a different format for each day. Day One, complete team scramble w/out handicaps @ the Bay Club. Day Two, Singles matches w/ applied handicaps @ Heritage Shores. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteNice idea Mass. Like the formats as well. Didn't know the wife was preggers-congrats. Who was on each team again? I can't remember. The dates could be April 2-3 or April 16-17. All sounds good. So far that's 2 people in agreement. Fritz, can you see if you can get some type of register on here so we can see who is in or not?
ReplyDeleteI like it when a plan comes together!
ReplyDeleteOK I will figure out how to put together some type of register on the site to "sign up"
I like the 2 day event as well. We could have a cocktail hour for those interested the 1st night and then the cookout thing the 2nd with spouses/significant other invited.
I, too, was thinkin of some multi formats with a Ryder Cup team theme. Given it more thought Will re-look at the suggested teams. Open to all suggestions.
By the way, "Mass" congratulations on the pregnant wife. Who's the dad?
A B C D
ReplyDeleteThe Buck DA Booth Bottle Rollin
Mass Debate Advisor Frank Tank
Fritz Robert
Odds Man
Im going by who i have seen play before and by how good Fritz says they are, i put Robert inbetween C and D not sure which he is.
Here were Fritz's original teams, seemed pretty good maybe you could change one player.
Group 1
Mass -Debator - B
Da Booth - B
Frank the Tank - D
Bottle Service - C
The Advisor -C
vs
Group 2
Fritz - B
The Buck - A
Keep It Rollin - D
The Odds Man - B
robert - C/D
I think they are pretty even letter wise, if you want to switch a B with a B and so forth.
At this point I would like to raise a practical question. How is Fritz and "The Advisor" going to play the same day when the are in fact, one in the same person?
ReplyDeleteThe 2nd and 3rd looks good as it is Good Friday and All American Mortgage and Fritz Insurance and Financial Services will be closed.
Well Fritz is already playing for two people why not three.
ReplyDeleteCan't do April 2nd/3rd, I have a preplanned visit to NJ for Easter.
ReplyDeleteI would suggest moving the event up to May. Courses woun't be dried out until April and April presents more crappy weather that could jeapordize our playing chances.
Plus I would like to get out and play some before we have such intense matches. Don't see the chances of getting out on a dry course anytime soon.
I recommend a team shamble (not scramble) for the first day. Its a modified scramble.
All 4 players tee off and pick the best drive of the 4. All go to that best drive then all 4 play there own ball out from there. Take to the two best scores per hole from team and add em up at the end.
The second day we could do a two man team event the first nine holes then do a head to head the second nine holes.
I work every ohther weekend and I imagine the toughest thing will be coming up with two days that suit us all.
I am married but will be playing. Don't have to ask. Contrary to popular single man belief, some married couples allow each other to have a life. And, to go to Myrtle Beach without throwing a fit.
It will be hard for me to get together after May. If we pick a weekend in May it has to stick, as that gets closer to Memorial Day and the start of summer. Or as I like to call it that start of the CASH DANCE.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we're going to play for 5,000. Let's be honest Buck, you could beat the entire field head to head if we all practiced for a month straight and you did not.
So move the game to between April 16-17 and May 14-15. This way we can find a weekend in accordance with the time you are off "The Buck"
The married comment was meant more for those who may spring it on their spouse and use it as an excuse not to play.(Robert) Or so that there is planning time and gives the spouse time to be able to attend the ba-ba-ba-baque!
I could be wrong, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that "The Odds Man" won't play. This will eliminate the problem with having Fritz and The Advisor on opposite teams leaving one team with one less player.
Why does it have to be a weekend and why two days in a row. There are plenty of times throughout the summer to all together an play. And to Rollin, why do you care when we play, according to Fritz you will most likely back out at the last minute anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe can play whenever you want "Rollin." And I realize we aren't playing for 5k and that I can beat you all.
ReplyDeleteSorry I take my golfing seriously and like to play well and be competetive especially when it comes to matches.
Maybe I should get a match together with Chip Illian, Mr. Collins, and the dude from Milford?
All joking aside i doesn't matter to me when we play.
I just don't like, nor want, to play on a sloppy ass wet golf course. A lot of roadways are still covered with water and acres of fields are flooded as well. It's gonna take a while for all this water to subside and dry up.
Not big on playing with wet feet and every shot you hit mud flies up into your face.
But I'm game for whatever you all decide as long as I'm not working.
I got a pond behind my house if anyone wants to come practice hitting balls into it, Heritage Shores has lots of water holes.
You guys and your petty bickering...Must be office life. It will be difficult for me to play as we move closer to June/July. I still plan on playing this summer, just not sure how it will work with the little one. If a date is planned in advance, I should be okay though. I would be up for playing a few times througout the summer.
ReplyDeleteIm all for a 2 day event but combining peoples schedules, ability to get of work, softball games and wives saying no, we may have to look at a 1 day event for now.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of the bickering, I like all the input! This really does help planning.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if we're really going to do this there's needs to be some compromising on all parts. Me included!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with The Buck about that 1st weekend in April. Too soon for course conditions, playing time and Easter weekend.
"Keep It Rollin". I appreciate your money making in the summer, but do you mean to tell me that you can't play anytime after May?
"Mass" your baby is a blessing. Congrats again. Will you not be able to take "some " time this summer? Don't mean that to sound bad, just trying to figure out if we did a "Summer Series" instead of a 2day combined event.
The Buck: I need from you the weekends your off and can play. I know almost everyone else's work hours. Obviously, anyone with teaching job is out except weekends until summer.
I assume, like me, "Frank", "Keep", "robert", "Bottle Service" can play any day as long as it's planned in advance. ("Keep" I know damn well you can play if you want during the week)
I really am tired of comments regarding me and multiple alias'. I believe "Frank" can attest that I'm not "Anonymous" as he was there when someone admitted it was he. I will be playing for myself.
DA BOOTH: Indicate to me which "B" players you would switch. Like the input.
Lastly: PLEASE TELL ME RIGHT NOW. WHO KNOWS THEY CAN PLAY 2 DAYS IN A ROW AND WHO CAN'T. don;t be ashamed. need to know this b4 going any further.
I wasnt saying we had to switch, i just ment switch a B for a B not a B for a D. And im good almost whenever you want to play and for how many days.
ReplyDeleteThis is just another suggestion regarding the golf...
ReplyDeleteIf not a 2 day event, then why not even a few times over the summer? We can do all of the suggested match & head to head play. Keep the scores @ Fritz's house, all culminating with a BBQ in July or even August. Pick some dates, and see where they lie for each of the blogging members and some of their signifigant others.
Again, just a suggestion.
As long as I know in advance, I should be fine with some days over the summer. I was just saying that a back-to-back tourney would be tough for me around those times. If we split it up, I should be good.
