March Madness
I know some of you claim to not follow basketball but its tourney time. I have a site on Cbssports.com that will be up and running tomorrow morning and i will send then link. I think i am going with $10 to play. You will need a cbssports username and then you just go to the site and make your selections. I think i am doing a point breakdown of Rd1= 1pt, Rd2=2pts, Rd3=4pts Rd4 = 6pts, Rd5 = 10pts, RD6 = 15pts plus a bonus of (seed + round) so each round you get the points for picking the right game then you get the seed as a bonus. Example : round 1 i pick Notre Dame to win i would get 1 point for the game then 11 points for the seed for a total of 12 points for that game. The bonus points only get added if it's an upset right?
ReplyDeleteGreat confusion already and Bottle actually helped me set it up. No it counts for every game you just obviously get more points if you pick the upset. i can take it off if people dont like it.

You need a cbssports username - if you really dont want to sign up for that you can give you picks to me and i can put them in manually you just wont get updates on everyones picks.
The money isnt needed to sign up i just need it by thursday.

ReplyDeleteEach round has its points for picking the winner. Then you get the bonus of adding the seed you picked to those points.
ReplyDeleteIf i pick Texas to beat Wake i get 1 + 8 = 9
Texas is an 8 seed if you pick them to win the round one game you would get 1 point for picking the correct winner plus 8 points because texas is the 8 seed add them together to equal 9 points for that game. If you were to pick Wake you would get 1 point for the win and 9 for the seed to equal 10.
Bottle- the reason i dont like only giving extra points for the upset is a game like the texas one. #8 Texas vs #9 Wake if i pick Texas to win i get 1 point if i pick Wake to win i would get 10 points doesnt seem fair to give that much extra just because its an upset when its only one seed.
There are many ways to do this, However CBS on gives 3 options, no bonus, seed + round, and seed * round. I will do whatever you guys like if you want to do it. I just think this makes it fair and it awards you for picking an upset but doesnt crush you if you dont.
