Everything Is Okay

This is a spinoff of The Commish's recent post regarding Thee Ohio State football players getting caught selling their merchandise. When I first saw the report, via ESPN, I was so excited. Of course I only read the initial introduction line stating 5 Ohio State players suspended for the first five games next season. Then I saw who the players were, including Pryor, and I got even more excited. Then I read the whole article and my excitement changed to deranged, out loud laughter. I even threw out a What the Fuck???

It is beyond comprehension, at least mine, that the NCAA has the audacity to assume American college football fans are stupid enough to stomach their absurd punishment and their reasoning for same. Thank God our justice system, however screwed up it is sometimes, doesn't dole out punishment like the NCAA does. Personally I think those convicted of crimes should be allowed to take a 6 month vacation before actually going to prison... NOT!!!

Just like everything else in America. Those in charge, the leading authorities of whatever, think they are so much smarter and that us Peons don't know any better and will just take in the face. I think it is flat out insulting and a slap in the face that the NCAA would even attempt to try and come up with some half ass reason as to why these 5 guys can play in the Sugar Bowl. These guys should Not be playing in the Sugar Bowl more than they should not be playing next season. They were caught for selling bowl game stuff and the NCAA is letting them play in another one? Let's just give the recovering crack addict some more crack for Christmas.

Now the NCAA says that $$$$$ is not the reason why and that playing in a bowl game is separate from regular season NCAA games. They also insinuate that they do not have the authority to impede these guys from playing in bowl game because it is separate from regular NCAA play. I'm sure USC may have a different take on that being they were banned (by who) from bowl game play for 2 years.

With all this being said, I am happy to report, with the help of ESPN, that my frustrations and dismay are no longer. Finally someone has stepped up to the plate and circumvented the NCAA and their terrible handling of this whole incident.

Luckily for us their is someone out there with honor, integrity, and a cardigan sweater made of justice. Thank you Coach Jim Tressel for holding your players accountable and making sure they do the right thing.

Today I am proud to report that Coach Tressel has made his 5 players verbally pledge to him that they Will return to play next season. I am proud to report that these players have pledged to Coach Tressel that they Will return next season. I am proud to report that Coach Tressel is now allowing them to play in the Sugar Bowl as a result of their verbal pledge. Apparently Coach Tressel did not feel it was fair that these players would play in the Sugar Bowl and then leave for the NFL.

Way to go Coach Tressel!!! Just when I thought someone, or some entity, could not be more stupid then the NCAA, you step up and really slap us in the face. I'm sure your verbal pledges are legally binding and you (and the university) would have a legal leg to stand on if one of these players tried to back out after the bowl game and go to the NFL. Good luck with that one in court.

I wonder if all the other underclassmen, who are NFL eligible, had to make the same pledge in order to play in the Sugar Bowl?

What a Joke

Disagree with the NCAA and with Ohio St players

Recently 5 Ohio St. Players, including starting QB Terrell Pryor, were brought up on charges for selling items given to them by the university. The resulting punishment by the NCAA is suspension for the first 5 games of next year's season. However, they can play in this year's Sugar Bowl.  Agree or Disagree?

Specifically, the players sold such items as jersey's, cleats, other uniform parts, Big Ten championship rings, bowl game awards, etc...  Money ranged up to $1,000 and even a trade for free tattoos.  As a result, the NCAA decided to punish for these actions.

Here's some issues with this:

1. Follow the $....if the offenses are so bad then why does the NCAA allow them to play in this year's Sugar Bowl? Why? Because these are 5 starters, a QB, running back, receiver, linebacker. Bowl Games are huge $ for the NCAA and the university playing. Out of the first 5 games next year for OSU, the toughest is an away game at Miami.    The other include such names a Akron and Toledo.

2. What a slap in the face if you're a coach! Players selling their Big Ten championship rings....wow....again, it's clear the games mean more to the coaches than to the players.  The rumors have it that Terell Pryor is a primadonna and Jim Tressel really won't be sad to se him go.

3. The players said they didn't know they couldn't sell these items.  I sort of believe this, but with all the things the NCAA does how can you not suspect you'll get in trouble for selling jerseys and bowl game awards.  The other argument is that these items were given to the players so why shouldn't they be allowed to sell? They are possessions of the player.....

4. Cam Newton is cleared by the NCAA even though his dad admits he tried to extort $150,000 out of Miss. St. in order to get his son.  Of course Cam "claims" he had no idea what his dad did.  Surrreeeeeeeee....i believe he and his dad neeeeever discussed this. And Cam claims he and his dad are very close....

Don't Believe The Hype....ESPN u bunch of p-ssies!

Oh my gosh!  What did mankind do for thousands of years until dome stadiums were invented?   Did the eskimos not play any games while it snowed? Didn't the Packers and Bears play outside during the 40's, 50's ....oh and still today?   In the early days of the NFL there was a team in Duluth, Minnesota....did they play in somebodies garage?

To recall an old favorite....GIVE ME A BREAK ESPN AND MIKE TIRICO!   When the Vikings were feared...when the defense was called "The Purple People Eaters"....when they went to 4 Super Bowls....they played outside.....and , yes, in Minnesota!   Guess what...it was cold then too!  Mike Tirico couldn't stop mentioning the cold, the weather, at one point he called the field a "skating rink"  (Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall seeing anybody slipping?)  Of course, according to Tirico, Brett Favre was injured because his head hit the frozen tundra (forget he had a 300lb dude slamming him to the ground and fallen on top of him).....A Vike D-Back was injured trying to make a tackle. According to Tirico it too was the frozen ground causing a head injury (had nothin to do with Bears Forte lowering his head and jamming his right knee into the guy's head)

In the 70's when Bud Grant coached the Vikes he used the elements.  He would not allow heaters on the sidelines. No special equipment.....no heating coils under the field......

God help us if the Chinese ever attack us....it better be during the summer or agree to a conflict inside.

Nut Suckers

1) I DO NOT like Tom Brady nor do I like the New England Patriots.

2) I DO respect the Patriots and I know they are a very good football team. I also know that Tom Brady is an outstanding QB that ranks at the top of the list with the best of all time.

With that being said, could the ball tonguing media please stop sucking Tom Brady's nuts.

Last night (early Monday morning) I was listening to ESPN Radio which was recapping Sunday's games. Don't know which program it was. Pick any. Fill in the blanks. They all say the same thing...

Look at what Tom Brady did/does and look at what he did/does it with (meaning his average at best receiving crew).

Yes... the Patriots do not have the big name receivers. Sure they have guys who are not considered "elite" receivers but give me a break... this is the NFL.

I guess I am supposed to believe that the Patriots' receivers possess no receiving ability at all? That they cannot run routes, they can not catch, nor can they put on their helmet and shoulder pads without Tom Brady's help?

I guess I am to believe that when Tom Brady gets the snap the receivers magically run their routes as if Tom was manipulating them like marionette puppets? That when he throws the ball to his receivers the ball has some magical power (conjured up by Tom) that allows the ball to stick to his receivers hands after Tom so precisely places ball on their hands?

I guess its possible. It's Tom Brady.

Can the all knowing media maybe give his receivers some credit. Could they acknowledge that these guys have played football just as long as Tom, if not longer? Could it be that his receivers actually have the ability to run routes, catch passes, and score touchdowns? I guess it's possible.

There are roughly 1000 college football teams in the country if one counts D1A, D1AA, D2, D3, and Junior College teams. Lets say that each team has roughly 15 receivers, counting TE, on their roster. That is 15000 college football players who are available to catch passes in the NFL, and we aren't even counting RB who participate in the passing game.

Now... out of those 15000 eligible candidates, roughly 480 play a receiving position in the NFL. That's less than 1% for us non math majors.

I think it's safe to say that the NFL, even the Patriots, are getting the best of the best, the cream of the crop, when it comes to their receiving corps. Sure... some are better than others but aren't these guys the best? This is the NFL, right??

I hate the bitch, but how come Tony Romo isn't getting his Brady Balls licked too for making D3 player Miles (I hate the bitch too) Austin so good? Or did he??? Maybe Miles is just good?

Give these guys some credit media nut suckers. Tom Brady is good, even very good, ok... great, but how many Superbowl rings would he have if it were not for Adam Vinatieri? A KICKER

Lets Talk Some Baseball

The long awaited winter meetings have wrapped up and the clear winner is the Red Sox. They walk away with Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford. All I can say is wow, that is going to be some lineup. They now will have have 4 guys in the prime of their career in that lineup with Pedroia, Yuk, Gonzalez, and Crawford. Sprinkle in a healthy Ellsbury, Drew, and Papi and man, that it is one lineup that is going to be hell to deal with. Unlike the Yankees, all of their core long term players will be in their late 20's - early 30's with perhaps their best years ahead. To me, if this team stays healthy they will be the favorites in the American league next year.

As far as my beloved Orioles go, I have to say that I like the deals they made. They aquired two players and lost little. Hernandez may end up being a stud, but only if he develops a good secondary pitch. He should do well in the division he is in. I hope "Dandy Andy" (credit Mass for the nickname) can fill the void at first and add a veteran starter along with a few arms for the bullpen and the Orioles could have an decent product on the field. If only they were not in the AL East.

Going back to the heated debate that went on last year with the Commish, which team now has more promise, the Nats or the O's. The Nats have just wasted 130 plus million on Jayson Werth who I will go on record now and say this, during his time with the Nats, he will never hit more than 30 hr's, never bat above .300, and maybe one year out of 7 he will knock in 100. They would have been better off to cut the deal in half and keep Dunn. Steven the Great is out for the year and they think so highly of their good young SS Ian Desmond that they were open to trading him this winter. So Commish, do you still feel the same way about the Nat's?

Some observations from the NFL season thus far

I just got done watching the Colts lose to America's team, the fighting Jerry Jones'. As a fan of the Colts, this season has been a while coming. I have never seen Peyton Manning force so many throws in his career. As is stands right now, I doubt they make the payoffs and that may be whats needed for the great Bill Pollian to open up his eyes and fix this team. I know alot of players are injured, but the offefensive line sucks and they couldn't rush for 100 yards against a high school team. Every offensive lineman is let go, and gets his position filled by some cheap undrafted free agent. The defense can't stop the run, and have not been able to for the last 10 years, the only reason they won their Super Bowl was that for one month, they were able to stop the run and play defense.

*As far as the Cowboys go, I have to tip my hat to them for not packing it in. The only question I have in their season, is why their offense is so balanced now as opposed to when the puffy marshmellow was roaming the sidelines because the same guy is calling the plays.

* How in the world does Norv Turner still have a job. Is there anyone as clueless in football as this man. How can you let the Raiders come in your house and smack you in the mouth like that. The problem with Norv is that he panics and completely becomes one dimenional when the team falls behind. Also, lets end the talk of Rivers for MVP. MVP's don't lose at home to the Raiders.

* On to the Chiefs, I hope they make the playoffs but at the same time, I hope their coach doesn't blow it for them. As I have seen him do on numerous occasions, he makes stupid decisions that will come back and get him at soem point. Case in point, they are up 7, 4th and goal from the 2, late 3rd or ealr 4th but I can't remeber the exact time, and he goes for it and Cassell gets sacked at the 19. Take the 3 and make it a 2 score game. They only won 10 to 6 and Denver had its chances, so he got lucky today.

* Ahh, the might Atlanta Falcons, they may get home field, but I still don't buy into them. They will be one and done, yup you heard it here. Also, can somebody please send a memo to Artur Blank and tell him he is not Jerry Jones, we don't need to see his ugly face on ther sidelines at the end of every game.

* Da Bears, my prediction is this, they not only don't win the division but don't make the playoffs. They still have the Jets, Pats, and Packers left, as well as the Vickings so I'm thinking alot of disappointment in Chicago

* Da Booths team, the Eagles, hey what can I say, Vick has been awesome, no doubt about it. I do worry about the hits that he takes, still think he needs to find the sidelines or slide cause one hit could cost him. I worry about the defense, but if Samuel is healty (the best off corner in the game) they play better.

* Finally here is my prediction on the playoffs from this point

AFC - Jets, Ravens, Jags, Chiefs, wildcards are Steelers and Pats

NFC - Eagles, Packers, Falcons, Rams wildcards Giants and Saints

Wildcard weekend could potentially have 3 or even all the road teams win this year

Takin' a Wiki-Leak

I have been trying to broaden my horizons by actually watching the news and reading something other than Depreps and orioleshangout online lately. One of the big news stories is the release of 250,000 US diplomatic documents on Wikileaks, a political sharing website.

Now granted, I certainly don't have all the information regarding policies on releasing government information, but doesn't anybody else have a problem with this? Could you pull this shit anywhere else but the U.S??? Some dude starts a website and posts sensitive and private government documents, and there are no repercussions? I am completely mind-f'd!!!

You know, I love this country, and thank God every day for the blessings I have, including the freedom to make choices and decisions. But I feel like what makes this country so strong is being exploited to a level that will soon (if not already) make us weak. This dude should be in prison, no questions asked. This site should be taken down and any sites like it. I get the freedom of expression and freedom of information, but there are limits.

Am I a stark raving communist and out of my mind?? Or do you share my opinions???

Get A Life, Man!!!

It did not take until today to realize this. I have known it for some time but for whatever reason I decided to Blog about it. It doesn't bother me that much but I figured it would be a fun topic to discuss.

First let me tell you a little bit about what means the most to me. What makes me happy and what little makes me sad. What makes me sad??? I would have to say dying. Death is a very sad occasion. Whether it a family member, a friend, an acquaintance, or even someone I don't know. Dying is just sad period. No getting around it. Seeing my daughter upset makes me sad to. That's about it. Life is short. So why be upset over petty shit.

What makes me happy. My wife. My daughter. My family. My friends. My co-workers. A nice day on the golf course. Doesn't take much to make me happy.

Now let me get on with it. It perplexes me to see how certain individuals wrap their whole lives around their favorite sports team and/or athlete.

As I'm sure most of you know Lebron James made his return to Cleveland last night. How could you miss it. If you turned on a sports station (tv or radio) yesterday or today then that was the whole talk of the day.

The media is comparing King James leaving to a bitter divorce or breaking up with a serious boy/girlfriend.

I watched the highlights of the game today. Funny to see 60000 people so emotional and irate over Lebron. Really makes one wonder how someone can be so crazy over Lebron.

Then theirs the poor Boise State kicker. The guy and his family have been getting death threats and harassing messages because of his missed kicks.

What in the hell is wrong with some people?

The only way I become that upset is you fuck with me or my family. Who gives a flying shit about Lebron James or Boise State. Hello people... it's a game. Just a game. The outcome has no actual physical effect on you.

So let me give you a piece of advise. Get over it already and Get a Life, Man!!!

Take all that negative energy and put towards bettering your already obvious, pathetic life.

I'm "Blue" and Gold

Well, I was celebrating Saturday night as the Fighting Irish came away with a big win over USC in California. 20-16 was the final score. It was the first time in a long time the Irish have won in this rivalry. Over the years, ND still holds the all-time edge in wins.

On a different note, it has come to my attention that some may be blogging anymore, because of my "Correct" perception of Boise State.  I have 1 word..."AWWWWWWWWWWWW".
How do you expect to compete with an SEC or PAC 10 schedule when you can't beat all the teams in the WAC while untested, uninjured, and well rested?  Answer: you can't.  Things have a way of working out. This case no different.   Even if they had beat Nevada, they still wouldn't have to face a conference championship game like Auburn has when it has to play a 13th game this week against a very tough South Carolina team.  Auburn ought to be the team upset with the schedules. If they lose this week, even after an undeafeated regular season, they probably won't get to play in the title game.

O well,   at 230am Saturday morning I was smiling.   Maybe next year....

MY TAKE

I don't think playing the Illinois/NW game at Wrigley Field was a bad idea, if the field could have accommodated it. This game was planned at least a year ago and it wasn't until a week out that the geniuses in charge realized there wasn't enough space in the one end zone. They did the right thing for safety sake but I think it took a lot from the game of football by only going one way.

Sticking with college football, I can't wait for next weekend. Rivalry week and the end of the season for most teams. The BCS system is living up to it's hype and I predict Boise State and/or TCU get left out of the big game with undefeated records. The national championship game will be LSU and Oregon.

Now the NBA... The awe inspiring Big 3 of the Miami Heat seem to be struggling. I thinks it's great that they have lost 5 of their first 13 games. Many (not me) thought this team would break the 95-96 Bulls' single season record in which the Bulls went 72-10. It took the Bulls 46 games to lose just 5 games. The Heat have already lost 5 in just 13. I don't even see them making it to the finals.

Finally MLB... Poor Derek Jeter is not getting the royal treatment he deserves from the Yankee management. He is a free agent and currently negotiations are under way between he, his agent, and the Yanks. Apparently the 3 year/45 million deal is an insult to him and everything he has done for the Yankees and the city of New York. I guess the 10 year/198 million deal he had wasn't enough ball fondling for him and his agent??? Look DJ, you have done a lot for NY but they have done a whole lot more for you you selfish prick. Take the deal you old homo and try not to end your career like Clemens or Favre did theirs.

Go Chiefs!!!!!

For The Love Of Money

For all you college football fans take note of another $ grap by Universities and the NCAA. Two of the most hypocritical facets in sports today.

Today Northwestern hosts the University of Illinois. Northwestern is located in the Chicago area and this is a rivalry game for the state of Illinois. Great!

We all love rivalry games.  Alabama vs Auburn.  Army vs Navy. Miami vs FSU......etc...... SC vs IR........  But in order to make more money these schools have scheduled the game to be played in Wrigley Field.  All to sell more tickets...to make more money....    Sounds ok, but.....

Consider the dumbness of it all.   The "East" endzone is less than 2 feet from the brick outfield wall.  As a result, there will be no offensive plays run towards that endzone.  Imagine during a game when the end of a quater is reached and teams turn around and move to the other end of the field.   Well....that's the way this whole game is going to be played....let's say Illinois kicks off to Northwestern who is returning the kick towards the East endzone. The returner is stopped on his own 20.....The game is going to be stopped so both teams can move to the other end of the field...remark the ball on that 20 and now Northwestern will move East to West.   Idiotic....How long is this game going to take to complete....?

Maybe it's just me, but C'Mon Man!

STUPID !!!!!!

I hope my fellow Bloggers were able to watch the Auburn/Georgia game today. It was a great game until the last 8 minutes or so. Auburn went up 49-31 with 2 minutes and 45 seconds to go in the game. They had game clinched and I was then subjected to some of the stupidest coaching I have ever seen.

If you didn't watch the game then I will lay some ground work for you to follow. With less then 2 minutes to go, Georgia had the ball and was driving hard. Apparently one of Auburn's DTs hit UG's QB late and the UG team was pissed. During the last drive the UG linemen went after the Auburn DT who allegedly hit their QB late. A fight ensued which was started by some minor shoving between teams. The Georgia bench cleared and then a Auburn player threw a punch. He was ejected from the game. He was a starting linebacker.

First let me say that I do not condone fighting, punch throwing, or anything like that during a football game. He deserved to be tossed and shame on him for not being able to control himself. The very next play another scuffle broke out and a UG lineman instigated another punch being thrown by a Auburn player. This time it was a starting DT (not the one who allegedly hit the UG QB late earlier in the quarter). This DT was also ejected for throwing a punch. Again.... good, he deserved it.

After that play ended, before the official announced the penalties, I saw the DT (who was the one who hit the UG QB late earlier) getting ready to go back into the game. At this point I lost it. Ask my wife. I was screaming at the TV.

I would like to announce my vote for the stupidest coach in the world....... Auburn's Coach, Coach Gene Chizik. Congratulations Gene. You are one stupid asshole.

His damn team was up 3 scores with 2:45 left in the game. He still had all his starters on defense in the game. I'm sure he didn't plan on 2 of his starters throwing punches and getting ejected but why in the hell were they even in the game??? Why risk anything bad happening when you are up 3 scores with 2 minutes to go. Why risk an injury to key players when the game is locked up. Why let your best DT go back into the game with 40 seconds to go when a fight just occurred because UG players were going after him.

This guy is a moron. Yes... he unfortunately has at least 2 players that can't act right but as a coach, up by 3 scores, pull your starters out to avoid anything from happening. Now he is without 2 of his best defensive players for the first half when they next play Bama.

Good luck dip shit!!!

And in case you were wondering??? He did put the second team D in when the second guy got ejected.

When Did Sports Become So Important?

As many of you know, I am a diehard Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. Even though their last football National Championship was in 1986, I continue to "Root, root, root, for ol' Notre Dame".

It's with this background that I address an issue and discuss a terrible incident which happened this past week. The point, however, is that this could just have easily happened on the campus of Miami, FSU, OU, and ,yes, Boise St., just to name a few....

Before getting into the meat of my writing, I want everyone to go back and imagine the day we played TOTW Golf Classic. Remember how windy it was that day?  I think most of us will say that was probably the most wind we've ever played golf in.  And, even though it was windy, I don't believe the wind got above 40mph. Wind gust were about the same.

Now imagine 50 mph winds with gusts even higher.....imagine being 50 feet in the air.....imagine standing on a platform maybe 8x10 at the most.

This past week at a Notre Dame football practice a young audio visual student died a senseless death. Coaches, for some dumb reason, have gotten into the habit of video tapeing practices. Why?  I guess so they can make sure their dressed in their best shorts, and sweats.  A lot of times the person videoing is standing on a "scissor" platform 50 feet or so up in the air.  You know, so the coach can get a full view. A great angle.

For those who may not know what a "scissor" platform is, here's a couple pics for reference:

So this college kid is placed on one of these things to tape practice. Oh yeah, the wind was only blowing 50 - 60 mph!  During the course of practice the strong winds toppled this thing over with the kid on it. It crashes over a fence seperating the practice area from a roadway. The kid eventually dies from injuries received. Let me add, the warning sticker on these things say not to use in winds over 25mph...

The "kid's" name is Declan Sullivan. Today is his funeral.

No doubt the family of Declan Sullivan will settle a financial settlement with the University. But, $ will never bring back their son.

Before and during practice Declan "Tweeted" his nervousness and that fact that it was "terrifying".
Okay....some of you will say he was a dumbass.  He should have gotten down.....should have stood up to Coach Brian Kelly and AD Jack Swarbrick and refused to go up in the 1st place....... No doubt some reading this blog would do that.....some of you have the kahonies to do that......would you have had the same kahonies as a 20yr old AV college kid at a pressure cooker college program and to a head football coach?   Keep in mind 300lb men act like robots and do whatever the coach says.   Do you really want to get yelled at by a redfaced football guy?  (wresting coaches are no better).  Be called not a "team player".  You know, you want a job after graduation and a reference from the head football coach at Notre Dame looks damn good on a resume!

Many are now looking at head coach Brian Kelly. Many are calling for his resignation.  He is the one in charge of all things at practice.  I or you cant just show up at ND (or any other major football program) and watch football practice.  This is secret stuff!  Everyone, including the AV guy is there at the direction of the head of the program..........  Tuesday ND practiced indoors because of tornado warnings. Wednesday it was decided to go out in the elements.

I don't know...not sure how I feel about coach Kelly getting the boot.  I'm human. We all make mistakes.  I'm a forgiving soul.   I've done things in my life that looking back I realize I'm lucky I didn't kill myself or, worse, someone else.  I've taken curves on a wet road at 30mph higher than posted...only to end up sideways in a marsh.....my passenger watching the salt water seep through his door.    I've "laid" a motorcycle down while going 50mph and amazing myself and a girl "friend" of mine got up without 1 scratch and laughed at our luck!   I'm not sure I can condemn Coach Kelly.     The same as I'm not sure I can condemn a coach who has a player die during a practice because of lack of hydration.  Things happen.

What I really want to say is "When did sports get so important that we need to tape practices and put people's lives in danger."  I'm sure at 4-4 and just losing to Navy Coach Kelly feels immense pressure.  Hey, this is "big time" college football!  We gotta win!   There's too much ESPN, NBC, ABC, CBS money on the line!!!!!!!!!!!        I love sports as much as anybody. But, I'm wondering when did sports become so important.  When did radio and TV consider Lebron James the most important thing over China, gas prices, etc.....   I'm rambling, but you get the point.

Let's re-evaluate our priorities... your health, your family, your God are more important than anything in sports. The lives of others are more important than winning a game.

I just hope Coach Kelly got something out of this week's practice film to use against this weeks foe, Toledo.

CAN'T HELP MYSELF!

See...this is what irritates me.....Everyone saying it's not Boise's fault for their schedule.

That's just plane crap!   It is their fault!

Their A.D. is the one who is in charge of putting together their schedule!...Yes, they play in a conference and are tied to a conference schedule, but no one held a gun to the A.D.'s head and forced him to schedule this year's out of conference foes Va Tech., Wyoming, Oregon St., and Toledo.

1st, the Va Tech game was played at a "neutral" site, not in Blacksburg. 2nd, Oregon St. and Toledo were HOME games. Way to go on a limb and schedule an away game at Wyoming!!!!!

Yes, they usually schedule 3 years ahead, but there's no way they couldn't get a game at Oklahoma, FSU, Ohio ST., etc... instead of going to Wyoming!   They went to Wyoming without requiring a "Home and Home" series so why not play that game at a better school?

Plus, their conference schedule is their fault too! If they want to prove themselves then move to a better conference! Don't stay in the WAC and then complain you're a prisoner of the conference. Move to at least the Mountain West if not the Pac-10.

It's all their fault!

So that other on this blog can relate to what I'm saying let's look locally. ....Sussex Central Football a few years ago made a conscience effort to become a "big boy". Like him or not, when John Wells took over as head coach he, along with the other coaches and A.D.s changed the way SC Football had been scheduling for years.  The way to the state playoffs and become a better program was through strengthening the schedule.

When I was a sophomore football player at SC we went 7-3 but cam no where even sniffing the state playoffs.  Again, as a Senior we went 7-3. Again, no thought of even making the playoffs.  Why, because for years SC scheduled Div II Laurel, Delmar, Lake Forest, Woodbridge, etc...   Now, SC plays the likes of St Marks, Christiana, Sallies, Caravel, etc....   Why? Because Div 1 teams get you more points toward making the playoffs.   They could continue to play the likes of Woodbridge, go undefeated. Have heavy winning records every year and bitch about being left out.

Boise, call SC and learn how to schedule!

Halloweenie

Here we are, the 27th of October. Only 4 days until Halos Eve.

Already the ghosts and goblins have been active. Disturbing the comfort level of us all. The usual scheme of the earth has been upset!   What to do?   How do we avert the ride of the headless horseman?     What has scared you the most?

Has it been the fact the Cowboys are 1-5?   BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Neither the Yankees or Philles made the World Series!    SHRIEEEEEEEEK!

Boise St still undefeated after a run through on of the toughest collegiate schedules known to mice and men?????   Couldn't resist......

The vaunted and extremely scary Miami Heat losing their season opener to the retirement age Celtics.   YOWWWWWWW!

The Chargers 2-5 while the Chiefs lead the AFC West at 4-2..... SCREEEEAAAMMMM!

Notre Dame losing to Navy for the 2nd year in a row!   YIKES!

Brett Favre sending scary pictures of his monster penis to Jenn Sterger.... OOOOOHHHHHH!!!

2 weeks in a row the BCS #1 losing.......and watch for 3 this Saturday.....GIVE ME YOUR BLOOD!

He did the mash, he did the monster mash, he was a graveyard flash!

World Series Wednesday

Okay guys all the Boise bullcrap is over until next week. Its World Series time.

Do i rout for a crack head manager and a star player who is addicted to everything you can think of, or a pot head Ace pitcher who John Kruk thinks is a class act for the way he has delt with this situation.

Or should i rout the new owner who just happens to be one of the best pitchers ever who once beamed a guy then threw him in a headlock and beat his ass. Or do i rout for my former Nole and The Bucks son Buster Posey.

Who cares, the Yankees arent playing so it should be fun.

Reply to Boise State

Commish... I thought you weren't wasting a minute watching them play a meaningless game??? I don't blame you though. The Smurf Turf is hypnotizing and draws one to watch.

I don't know what this whole debate is about. Is it because BS is ranked 3rd in the BCS polls? Is it because they are in a weak conference? Is it because they don't play other conferences' power houses? Is it because they aren't that good? Is it because they the media pumps them up. Is it because they didn't leave their conference for a stronger one? Is it because they play on a blue field?

You don't have to answer. I would venture to say it's a combination of them all.

Here's how I look at it:

1) BS State was ranked #3 at the beginning of the season by the AP poll and the USA Today/Coaches Poll. This tells me that hundreds of sports writers and and coaches felt BS was the 3rd best team in the country going in to the season. Are they??? I don't know. But I think if they are voted 3rd then a lot of people , who probably know what they are talking about, feel they are worthy of that ranking. Again... are they??? I don't know. But I will give all those voters the benefit of the doubt and go with it until shown otherwise. By the way... I don't think these voters/experts take strength of schedule into consideration when voting on the preseason poll. I would think it is who they feel is the best teams.

2) I'm sure we are all can agree that BS conference is not the strongest by any means. Should that penalize them. I wouldn't think it should but it does. Just because they play in an inferior conference doesn't mean they aren't really good. Yes they win by 30-40-50 points. Let's say you put Bama in their conference right now and Bama wins by 30-40-50 points which I assume they would just like BS does. Does that mean Bama sucks because they play in that conference? I don't think conference foes matter much if you are that good. If one dominates a conference in D1 football by 30-40-50 points then I would say they are pretty good. Some really weak ass teams, from weak ass conferences, have pushed some big boys to the limit this year. BS has waxed them. Again... are they a national championship caliber team. Maybe... but I don't know.

3) I'm really tired of the "they don't play anyone" tag. Who really cares who they play. What does playing a "better team" do for you anyway? Other than maybe make you feel more comfortable playing in a big game situation and not shitting your pants. Is playing against someone bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic then you going to make you bigger, faster, stronger, or athletic? NO! It means you will get beat unless you play smart, technical, and mistake free football... which BS does. What's BS going to get out of playing BAMA, OK, or Ohio State? Better question... what does BAMA, OK, or Ohio State get out of playing BS?

4) What conference should BS join? I think they are going to the Mountain West conference next year so that should improve their mojo playing with Air Force, BYU, Utah and TCU. I also saw where they would join the PAC-10 if invited but obviously they haven't been. BS doesn't schedule big teams cuz they won't agree to a home-home agreement (that being the big team not agreeing to go to Boise). Why should Boise have to only go on the road. They have been a top ranked team for a few years now and everyone knows it. I think that garners the respect for other big teams to come to their house as well.

Boise State is a very good team and just because they play in Idaho and a weak conference doesn't mean they can't play in the big conferences. Sure they don't get the 5 star recruits like Bama, LSU, FLorida, and Notre Dame but how many 5 star recruits end up busts... A lot! They get the "tweener" guys who end up being just as good as the 5 star guys. If I recall two of the best NFL players ever (Payton and RIce) came from D1AA schools.

That's how BS does it and they are doing a fine job doing it.

With that that I have said I still hope Boise State wins. NOT because I like them, not because I think they are a national caliber team, but because they will go undefeated again and miss the big game. And this will eventually lead us to a playoff system.

Its Boise Tuesday

YES YES YES!!!

Time check... 10:03 pm on October 20th, 2010. I'm sitting on my couch having just watched the Texas Rangers take a 5-1 lead over Thee New York Yankees in the 5th. Not to mention it could possibly be 5-0 if not for another blown call by the umpires. Your right Bud... Major League Baseball doesn't need instant replay.

Anyway... back to the game. I'm so fucking jacked right now and I don't even particularly follow baseball. Yet I have watched all the ALCS games thus far. Why you ask?? Because I absolutely despise the New York Yankees.

Mass... you may find this hard to believe but if you do believe it than you (and the other Bloggers) will know just how much I dislike like them. I would root for Kobe and the Lakers, Romo and Dallas, and even Phil and FIGJAM before I rooted for the Yanks.

Every time they show Nolan Ryan, I pray he exits the stands and whoops Joe Girardi's ass just like he did to stupid ass Robin Ventura. I wish Ron Washington would rip Jeter's nose off his face and use as a straw to snort his cocaine. I pray to God Roger Clemens appears and kicks Andy Petite in his steroid shrunken nuts. I can go on but I'm eating cookies right now and I'm getting chocolate on the keys. Time Out!!!

Ok... I'm back. End of the 6th and it's a commercial now. This gives me a chance to comment on Commissioner Fritz's earlier post. I personally don't think Tiger was avoiding her ass. I think he was thinking if she was one of the 1,ooo chicks he banged. Besides, if he wasn't looking on purpose Stewart Cink could certainly fill him in on what he missed, "I'm lookin, I'm lookin, I'm Lookin, might as well since Captain Pavin forgot to announce me as a team member."

Back to the game. Bottom of the seventh. Fat Face Berkman just tripled but thankfully jackass after him flied out. Ooooh.. the seventh inning stretch and 1 and a 2 and 3. Ashley Melnick is cute and God Bless America.

I'd like to take this commercial break to personally thank James Harrison for returning to the Steelers and gracing us with his ruthless, head hunting abilities. Did anyone really think (other than all the ESPN analysts) he was really going to quit? By the way... I almost quit my job yesterday when I found out I wasn't allowed to assault people and display a wanton disregard for human safety.

YES!!! Lead off double for Young in the 7th. Now pussy ass Girardi is walking Hamilton again for the 3rd time tonight. I don't believe this but how can a "All-Star team be afraid of one single player? I don't get it. Another run scored in the 7th... 6-1 and I love it!!! Here we go Rangers here we go!

I would now like to move on to the world of local high school sports. Some of you, if not all, probably heard that the Legend Phillip Shulite was Not approved to coach wrestling this year (he was later approved by the over ruling board president). Let me say that I am not one of Shultie's biggest fans but the man has coached longer than I have been alive and has been very successful coaching the SC wrestling program. Like him or not he has done well for our athletic community and has been a big part in thousands of his wrestlers' lives. With that being said I would like to say what a vindictive bitch Ms. Wilson must be. It amazes me that a grown adult and elected board member, can't look past whatever differences she has with Coach Shultie. She is very lucky that Captain Layfield wasn't at the meeting.

Shake those red pom poms!!! Lewis is mowing down the Bronx Bummers. 3 more Yankee outs and I can go to bed hap-hap-happy. Mariano Rivera could be Obamas's brother. I wish the fat kid waving the flag behind home plate would sit the hell down.

Gentlemen we are now 3 outs away from the Rangers earning a trip the WS. Come on Feliz... what the fuck??? Never mind, strike III, 1 down. 2 down! 100 mph gasssssss. Sit the fuck down A-Rod!!!!! GAME OVER... If you would like to play again... wait til next year Bitches!

GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS!

"ok...don't look at her ass, don't look, don't look, don't look"

Poor Babies!!!

Rules are rules and rules are meant to be followed. If you don't like it then you have 1 of 2 choices.

1) Violate the rules and suffer the consequences

2) Quit

I won't get into all this NFL helmet to helmet bullshit that has been on TV (all day) the past 3 days. I'm sure everyone has been made aware and has there opinion. As far as I am concerned the NFL has there so called rules on the matter and when it comes down to it each "hit" is it's own case which is subjective to who dishes out the penalty.

NFL players are very athletic, very fast, and very strong. Every play their instincts tell them to hit or be hit. In a game where decisions are made split second it's hard to always to the legal thing. With that being said if rules are changed then do your best to adapt.

I did find 2 things very interesting while watching countless hours of the media blitz towards this topic.

1) Steelers LB James Harrison stated he does not know if he could continue to play in the NFL if he has to hold back. While I agree that each play is very fast and uncontrollable things happen, I still believe rules are rules and one must do their best to adjust. Or one can deal with the outcome or Quit. I would be interested to see if Mr. Harrison actually quits, and gives up his millions, if the NFL forcefully enforces the issue.

2) Former 49ers QB Steve Young blaming QB's for these brutal hits on the wide receivers. Yes Steve, every QB in the NFL is not as good as you once were. I guess you never threw a bad ball that did or could of put your WR in a bad position to get struck? I guess you don't recall that the QB's are getting chased after by big, fast defenders and have a second to get the ball off? I think blaming the Qb is just plain idiotic and how do we not know it could have been the WR fault for running the wrong pattern?

Whether you agree or disagree with the rule is not the issue. This can be and will be debated and second guessed for forever. The one thing that is clear is that when your employer, the big bossman, lays down the rules then follow them or find a new career.

Show Off

Hello Gentlemen,

After watching this weekend's NFL games I decided I want to bring the NFL into my world. Why should they have all the fun, all the excitement, and all the flash?? Why can't I do what they do in my everyday life?? No more sitting on the couch wishing I was or I could. Today starts a new day in my life and I hope my fellow Bloggers will join hands with me and take the NFL approach to our everyday lives.

What do I speak of you ask? I speak of the celebrating, the taunting, the self promoting I see after every score, big play, or to be honest... every play. Starting today I, I mean we, will all act like total idiots and amplify the highs of our everyday life. Today my new hero and role model will be Miles Austin. Actually you may choose pretty much any NFL player to model your new life after.

From now on whenever I write a citizen a ticket I'm gonna stare them down and shake my finger in their face as if to say, "No Sir... not today... this is my roadway criminal and you just got blown up." To follow that up I will jump on the hood of their car and flex my muscles and look down upon them like shit on my shoe. Every compliant I go to the poor victims will be initially greeted by me sprinting up to them, lowering my campaign hat, and me smoking the fool with some vicious hat to head contact. I will treat a simple shoplifting arrest like I just apprehended a drug dealer carrying 500 lbs of smack and who just killed 12 people in 8 different states. When my fellow officers arrive there will be chest bumps, high fives, and leap frogs to celebrate that 1 minor misdemeanor shoplifting arrest. Wooooooooo!!!!

I don't care if it is my job. I don't care if I get paid to that job. I don't care if I do look like a stupid fool. I'm going jack myself up no matter how big or small the incident.

Why??? Because I want to be a stupid idiot who brings all the attention to myself. Just like an NFL football player.

Please join me as I start my new adventure and hopefully Nationwide will be hiring in the very near future.

I was wrong!...It must be true!

OK!   I give!   Boise State must be #1

What else can I say....last week Alabama lost to #10 South Carolina...how dare they after coming off a win vs Florida and a week before playing Ole' Miss.

Wouldn't you know it, South Carolina comes off that win only to have to play another SEC game vs. Kentucky. They lose....(If you haven't seen UK, check out qb Hartline)

So, this week's #1 Ohio State comes off a win vs. Indiana only to lose to #18 Wisconsin......

Oregon didn't play this weekend, but faces UCLA this Thursday night......can the "Ducks" secure #1?  More importantly, what uniform combination will the University of Oregon wear?

And how dare Michigan St. ask to be better than #15!  They're only 7-0 and having beat those bad Badgers of Wisconsin.  Know your place!

I say, jump Boise from #3 to #1!!!!!!  I'm there!!!!!  I mean just look....they were able to kick around San Jose St. after successive weeks against tough foes from Toledo and New Mexico St.!
The Broncos will be #1.  They need to be #1.  They deserve #1.   (that is, if they can hold off next week's rival Louisiana Tech!)

Picture This

I haven't heard any talk on here regarding Brett Favre and Jenn Sterger.  What does everyone think?

It is well known that I am not a Bret Favre fan, but here's my take:

First, we know that Brett Favre has been accused of taking a picture of his "junk" and sending it via cellphone to Jenn Sterger.  Somehow Ms. Sterger was employed with the Jets when Favre played his 1 glorious year in NY.  Now there's the fury that he is guilty of something. That maybe it was harrassment.  That, if found guilty, Roger Goodell will have to punish and maybe suspend the Great One.

Ok...please do a Google image search for a one Jenn Sterger.  Please....go through all 15 pages listed.  You'll see many of a young women wearing next to nothing. In the stands at FSU games wearing "daisy dukes" and cutoff tees trying to gain attention. (Matter of fact, that's how she first got discovered. Her and a girlfriend attended FSU and wore extremely sexy outfits to games and she got noticed. There's also a Playboy experience in her past.)  Jenn is no angel.   Yes, No means No so don't say The Commish is anti-female.  I'm just saying that like a lot of instances hot women get the attention they seek and when it goes over the edge they want to complain.

I ask too, is taking a cellphone pic of your "Stuff" and sending via cellphone against the law?  Crude, but not illegal. What Bret is guilty of is being married and acting like an idiot.

Just ask Chicken Hawk....he likes getting pictures of "Packages" on his cell.

Sick-en-ning

I, like most of you, watch Favre Bowl 2010 last night. Like SOME of you I was hoping the Jets defense would smack him around a few times and make him regret his 1,000 comeback.

The game went smoothly. Very entertaining!

The post game was different.  Sometimes ESPN can really get on my nerves. You know, it's one of those things you want to watch, do, etc...but after a while you just can't take anymore.   Listening to Stuart Scott, Steve Young, et al after the game was enough to tell me....turn off the tv and go to bed......    It was a Brett Favre lovefest.   ESPN openly loves Brett. He's one of their boys.  Listening to the post game you would have thought the Vikes won by 30.  They discussed every positive play he made and made very little, if any, mention of all of his fumbles, interceptions, etc....

Then this morning on the Dan Patrick show he, too, talks about Brett. But one comment he made really stirred me. I hate the over use of the term "great" or "hall of famer".   Well according to Dan, there were 5 or 6 hall of famers playing in the game last night.   What!??   I'll list his names for you:

Bret Favre - ok
Ladanian Tomlinson - ok, i guess. He's got the yards for statistic, but if you were to start a team with any running back in his prime would you pick home over  Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Franco Harris, Emmitt Smith, etc...?
Adrian Peterson - What?  are you really kidding me Dan? 1st, he's only been in the league a few years, 2nd, is no where on the list of all-time leading rushers, 3rd, fumbles more than any other back over the last 3 years, and 4th, since Favre arrived have you really heard much from him?
Darrelle Reavis - 1 good year makes him a HOF?
Jared Allen -  Dan must be smoking something.  This choice just goes to show you how much influence the modern media has on perception. How bigger than reality players can become in the day of 24 hr espn highlights.  Did Jared Allen even make a tackle last night?

Oh well......Maybe next year Favre comes back to accept the head coaching job at Boise State.

So Close!!!

Finally the skies cleared and it was a beautiful day in Wales. No rain or defunct rain suits to get in the way of a great day of golf.

The US Team was hanging on by a thread going into todays singles matches. Halfway through it looked even bleaker for the team. The big boys came through but it appeared that it would not be enough. Even Ricky Bieber, I mean Justin Fowler, I mean... forget it.

Suddenly the tides changed and the remaining players, most who were behind, rebounded and started to make it interesting. The whole Ryder Cup came to to the last match with the score tied at 13.5 to 13.5. Mahan down 1 to McDowell with 3 to play.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda... Monday morning quarterback (literally)... I would of...

We can second guess this all we want but the US fought back hard and almost pulled it off. They put themselves in this position with poor play yesterday.

Forget it!!! Enough Mr. Nice Guy!!! What in the fuck was Corey Pavin thinking. This guy will get my vote for one of the worst US Ryder Cup captains in the history of the event.

From the rain suits and bags problem to letting his wife design this uniforms, Pavin shit the bed and embarrassed our country this week.

And why in the hell would you put Hunter Mahan as your anchor in the singles matches? It came down to him and well... it didn't workout. I don't mind losing because we were lucky to fight back and tie the thing.

Mahan was 1 down with 3 to play. 16th hole drops his tee shot in rough and low runs one out of the rough just short of the green. Makes par and McDowell drops birdie on his head to go 2 up with 2 to play.

17th whole McDowell pushes his tee shot right on the par 3. Trickles into the rough, pin high. Not a easy second shot. Mahan botches his shot and leaves it 5 yards short of the green. Oh fuck! Very easy up hill chip shot though. Would be nice to make it but par puts a lot of pressure on McDowell to get up and down for par. Could be 1 down with one to go after this hole.

Mahan strikes his chip shot fat and it goes about 3 feet and doesn't even make the green. Oh fuck fuck fuck!!! McDowell douche bags his chip shot and leaves a 6 footer for par. Mahan misses chip in and game over.

Hunter Mahan is not the guy I want taking the pressure shot(s) when the title is on the line. I want Mickelson or Woods or Stricker or Furyk.... Not Mahan. A guy with experience, a guy with the spirit to win. They may not have beat McDowell, but I guarantee Phil, Tiger, Steve, or Jim don't land there ball 5 yards short then chubby blast it 3 feet.

I don't blame Hunter Mahan or his sunglasses. I blame Captain Pavin. From the beginning to the end, his actions set the team up for failure.

Thanks Captain Pavin. Now you can go back to being irrelevant.

"Sloppy" seconds

The Buck stole my thunder with his prior post, but I can't help but comment as well about this year's Ryder Cup.

I agree, this year's event has been a total disaster. For being one of the world's most anticipated golf events, it looks like they could have used a little help from the organizers from TOTW Golf Classic held back in May!
I played with The Buck friday in a tourney at King's Creek. Sloppy, wet, damp, slow, ugh! And that's only 1/100 of the rain they've been dealing with in Wales.  I realize the European team entails quite a few countries, but please pick one other than frigging Wales! I'm sure it has pretty countryside with plush grass, but jeez if my yard was getting rain almost everyday of the year it would be plush too!    I find it comical that the NFL and media are bitching about awarding a Super Bowl to New Jersey and the new Giants Stadium because of being in a cold weather area and yet there can be a golf event scheduled in a geographical area that doesn't get above 60 degrees (That's balmy to them) and rains at some point every day!!!!  Either golfers are harder than we thought or the NFL players are a bunch of pussies.
I'm sitting here Sunday am watching and so far they have had extended rain delays both friday and saturday and there's been off and on rain today.

I, too, like Buck am sitting here confused....I mean, I'm watching it right now and I have no clue where the event stands!  The delays have screwed up the whole scheduled format and the TV telecast doesn't give any updates and only shows the overall points total about every 2 hours.  Plus, Saturday I'm watching and you talk about confusing.....NBC was showing play from Friday, but the announcers were doing it live....they kep referring to "today", "yesterday", the new schedule, the real schedule,   ?????????????? ughhh! again.

Now, let's discuss the man they used to call the "little bulldog"....Capt. Corey Pavin....  I don't even know where I want to start.  I respect his Ryder Cup record (go find highlights from The Belfrey from the late '80s), but his job as a captain has sucked!   1st, the lying about whether he was going to pick Tiger for the team.....then lying about it and saying he hadn't made up his mind.....then picking him anyway......what a puss!
Now let's discuss who wears the pants in his family..... See pic above of the gay pastel uniform....His wife was in charge of designing the uniforms, rainsuits, etc..........Please Corey, get control of your house before you end up wearing a skirt and high heels!   And if your wife expresses an interest in going back to school for fashion design, just take the tuition money out to the back yard and burn it. At least the heat from the fire will give you more than her wasting it!   I think after the event we'll find out she really is color blind!................Let me get this right,  the USA is red, white, and blue........please read the following article from a writer with the Golf Channell:
It's got to be a first in American Ryder Cup history.

U.S. Captain Corey Pavin said cornflower will be among the team colors his men will wear in the matches Oct. 1-3 at Celtic Manor in Wales.

Lisa Pavin, Corey’s wife, gets the largest credit for arranging the uniform selections. The Saturday match-play ensemble includes a 4-ply cornflower-colored cashmere cardigan sweater with a colorful team patch. Cornflower looks similar to lavender.

“I think Lisa and I are really pleased with the way the uniforms turned out,” Pavin said Friday in a teleconference. “We had a vision of what we wanted, and Lisa made it happen and she was involved in it a lot. But there are a lot of cool things about the uniform. It's kind of an old-school look. It's kind of a retro-look, but with a modern twist to it. There are some cool things. There's a felt patch on the chest that's unique and different, and I'm really pleased with the way the uniforms turned out.”

Golf Digest style guru Marty Hackel raved about the uniform selections developed with Peter Millar and Hickey Freeman.

“What's clear from the presentation is that Lisa Pavin spent a great deal of time over the last two years interacting with the various design companies to create a historically respectful, classic but modern collection using current materials," Hackel wrote on GolfDigest.com. "As opposed to the simple red, white and blue motif of past teams, the Pavins made an effort to infuse a fresh palette . . .

“A lot of thought went into selecting the appropriate typeface that'll be used on rain wear and team bags. Think New York Yankees, circa 1936."

The color of the letters is "Fuschia" for those who are wanting to find a golf shirt of the same color........Will somebody check and see if Corey has a "set"?  Maybe we should respell his name "Corrie" and get his wife a new strap-on.  What's even more funny is that the article mentions that Lisa Pavin spent 2 years coming up with this shit!!!   My God, give me a couple of hours to drive to Martins in Myrtle Beach and a credit card and I could have the team outfitted in a day!!!!!!!!!!!!   And, I guarantee I wouldn't get rainsuits that look like we're getting ready to run the 40 yard dash!     Speaking of the rainsuits, yes what Buck said is true......they're rainproof wasn't rainproof.  How do you not know that before going to Wales?  How does Sun Mountain get away with providing them?  How does anyone not test them beforehand?    As it turns out, the rainsuits Pavin bought from a merchandise tent are made by the same company who made the European team suits.........
When planning TOTW Golf Classic I, The Commish, caught some flack from a few when I suggested each team try and wear a "team color" shirt......well at least I didn't suggest either team wear colors more suitable for gay porn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enough!  It's 12:00 sunday. I'm gonna watch some more. I still don't know if they will finish today, tomorrow, at what stage they're at.  etc......

I suggest they contact Heritage Shores.

My Ryder Cup Runneth Over

Our commissioner, and my good friend, Fritz made a good point yesterday. Why would you choose to have an event like this in Wales. It rains 364 days a year there. They built the course, ironically named "The 2010 Course," just for the 2010 Ryder Cup. Did anyone really think all 3 days would be sunny skies and 75 degree temperatures? Maybe they just crossed their fingers? But regardless of where you are playing you should at least come prepared.

I watched some of the event on Friday while I was waiting to play in a tournament at Kings Creek. They had half an inch of rain and the course was soaked, I was soaked, and it sucked. I couldn't imagine having to endure what these guys were playing in.

Now let us get to the best part of the whole cluster fuck on Friday. The US team apparently got screwed by Sun Mountain. SM is the company that made the rain suits for the team. I've gotten past the fact that we looked like the US Olympic Track team instead of a golf team.

I guess the department that makes the WATERPROOF rain suits were on strike the day the US team ordered there shit? That's OK... Sun Mountain replaced them with workers from the Sham-WOW department to make the rain suits.

Poor Captain Pavin had to whip out the American Express Platinum card and buy tan and red rain suits from the souveneir stand. How embarrassing. And lets not forget that the bags (made by Belding) are leaking and all the players things are getting soaked in the bag (ie... dry towels, dry gloves).

Then there is are the lovely uniforms the US Team chose for this years event. If you get a chance go to Golfdigest.com and look at the pic of Bubba Watson standing behind Ian Poulter. If this pic doesn't say GAY, then I don't know what does. Just look at it... I won't even take the time to describe it cuz a pic is worth a 1000 words. (Ian Poulter doesn't help the cause either).

Why can't we just have nice, traditional golfing attire that represents our country. Are our countries' colors not red, white, and blue? One would think it was pastel pink, purple, and blue if you watched this years event. Every Ryder Cup tournament we have some fucked up color choices with some fucked up pattern. Like crossed golf clubs or golf balls all over the shirt. The shirts my grandma used to by me from Peebles for Christmas (and still does). Only the likes of Bob and Jack Wadkins could pull this trendy look off.

The worst part is that I tried to catch up, with what was going on, when I got home today but that didn't work out. I'm so fucking confused right now. I don't know where we stand cuz there are like 3 different games going on. 1st round matches still going on, 2nd round matches still going on, 3rd round matches started.... What the hell???

This used to be one of my most favorite events to watch. This year's event has been a total disaster not to mention the fact that it comes on tv at 2 am.

Well I hope the US Team can squeegee out a win and I will root for them in my dreams tonight. Good luck boys and I hope you got your rain suits right cuz they are calling for heavy rains on day 3.

PS... I took the liberty to attach (see below) The PIC of Bubba, and Ian fist pumping, so you can see what I mean. FAG!!!

SEPT 2010

Thanks to all bloggers for the month of September 2010!

We had our busiest blog month since April.  Now we had into October, Halloween, Fall, and THANK GOD the major league baseball playoffs!

Does anyone in baseball realize that now that the Minnesota Twins have an outdoor stadium we could see a world series in about 10 degree weather with snow come November!  Why in the world do we have to have baseball in November?  I'm a baseball fan, but here's my suggestions to "fix" the game:

1. SHORTEN the regular season. Right now it's 162 games. Teams play almost every day from April to Oct. That's just ridiculous! 162 was instilled around 1961.  Of course, when they had 154 game seasons 8 teams did not make the playoffs from each league.
I say reduce the regular season to 144 games and start the playoffs in September.

2. Do not add another wildcard. Yes, there;s talk of adding another playoff spot for each league! Doesn't anybody learn from the the NHL or NBA?  Nobody cares about their regular seasons because everybody makes the playoffs......

3. All playoff series before the world series should shortened to best of 3.

4. NO trading deeadline August 31. Each team should have to play the whole season with the team they take from spring training or minor league call ups.  I hate that a team can play till august the trade for a Cliff Lee, etc... as a mercenary to finish the season.

5. In the playoffs and world series there should be a mandatory rest period between starts for pitchers. Then say the Yanks can't pitch C.C. the 1st game and bring him back for the 3rd or 4th.   Then we would see the best "TEAM" win instead of the team with the best 1 or 2 pitchers.

6. No DH in American League park and no DH in National league parks during world series.  I'm sorry the National League hasn't caught up with the times, but why should the American League teams have to play a game without one of their usual best hitters?  Furthermore, why should I be subject to another game where a pro athlete pitcher attempts to bunt with the whole stadium knowing he's going to or stand there looking like he's never had a baseball bat in his hands!
It's an addition to the National League and a subtraction to the American League.

7. Time clock used between pitches. Stop the wasted time by batters having readjust their gloves, helmets, jocks between every pitch.  Penalty is an automatic strike.

Nationwide Is Really On My Side!!!

Good morning fellow Bloggers,

I was off work yesterday and which prompted me to run some errands. Fortunately my schedule allows me to have some weekdays off which is great because a majority of people work during the week and it makes errand running a lot easier.

My first endeavour was going to the DMV to have my registration renewed. Wednesdays they open at noon so I arrived at about quarter past. I checked in with the receptionist and obtained my ticket. I was #C426. I sat down with my daughter and saw that C412 was being served. Not bad I thought. Waited about 10 minutes, met with the teller and got my reg renewed in about 5 minutes. I spent a total of 15 minutes at DMV which is f-ing amazing considering they have about 30+ teller stalls but usually only have about 15 of them open. Great use of our tax paying dollars.

Next I was off to BJs to pick up some bulk supplies. Upon arrival I got my cart, put my daughter in the cart and journeyed towards the front doors. As we were entering the front door I passed by a elderly couple and one of them farted and kept farting as I passed through the front doors. It was one of those wet sounding farts which may or may not be accompanied by shit. I think he/she shit their pants. Once inside I grabbed things on my list and went to the self checkout line. This fucking thing is a pain in the ass. Every other thing I put on the belt came back to me and half the shit I tried to scan wouldn't scan. I finally got everything through (with the help of a BJs employee) and proceeded to the doors where I met with the BJs receipt checker. Time at BJS... about 20 minutes.

After BJs we went to the Seaford Federal Credit Union where we have our daughter's savings account. She had her 1st birthday on September 21st and we deposited her birthday earnings. Spent about 5 minutes at the bank.

Leaving the bank I looked over at the Carey Insurance Agency and had an idea. I've noticed over the months that a lot of the Blog's contributors (who work for the Carey Insurance Agency) post some (a lot) of their pieces during work hours. That's it I thought! I think I will pop on in, unannounced and see for my self what my fellow Bloggers are working on.

I first came across Josh and Pickle in the conference room or at least it looked like a conference room. Maybe it was their office, I don't know. Josh was working on his lap top with the computer screen facing away from me so I couldn't see what was on the screen. He didn't look nervous or fidgety so I can only assume he was working. Pickle was working on a desk top which was facing me and I could clearly see the screen. It had a bunch of charts and stuff on it so I'm pretty sure he was working. Of course their were a lot of minimized tabs at the bottom of the screen so I was a little leery. I will give them both the benefit of the doubt.

I left them and made my way down the hall to Fritz's office. Saw Robert sitting at his desk first. He was on the phone talking numbers with someone. I assumed it was mortgage stuff but he could of been betting on the horses. Billy passed by doing what he does best, Smiling. I said hello and he returned the gesture. Fritz was in his office, papers scattered around his desk. No Blog stuff on his screen. We chatted for a while. Pickle came in and they talked a few about a client. Work was being done.

As I left Fritz walked me to the back door because I was parked at the bank. I said goodbye to Robert who was now off the phone. Billy was on the phone now (probably sweet talking some MILF), I meant client, and I said goodbye to him. Just before the backdoor I saw Travis and Pickle talking in a office (I assume it's Travis's office cuz Pickle's office has a bigger table and more chairs). I stood at the door and looked in for a few seconds but neither looked booked. I guess they were pretty involved in their business dialogue. Working those numbers and credit scores? I would say Yes Sir.

I said goodbye to Fritz and made my way to my car. As I drove off I thought to myself "what a lucky guy I am. My guys are working hard for me." I know that my all my insurance and mortgage needs are being cared for and looked after. Nationwide (and All American Mortgage) Is - ALWAYS - On My Side!!!

Thanks Guys!

PS... Don't let this discourage you from blogging while at work, but I do expect you to stop if I get in an accident or my house catches on fire.

something different

How bout dem Cowboys!

I love seeing a cry baby getting screwed over and when its a cowboy it makes it ten times funnier. If you havent seen yet Dez Bryant is an idiot. We all remember how he wouldnt carry Roy Williams pads off the filed and cried like a little baby about it. Whether you agree with him or not i bet he wished he just carried those pads. He was stuck with a just shy of 55 thousand dollar dinner bill. To make up for not carrying the pads he had to pay for a dinner so he took the offensive players out and Roy being such a nice guy invited the Defense players to come too. Its okay though Dez will make that money back with that Super Bowl Bonus he gets......not. I bet without anyone knowing JJ pays for the dinner so his favorite player doesnt get upset.

Springtime soon?

Ah, the Orioles!  The Nationals!    Spring training is just around the corner...I WISH!

What started out to be a promising football season has gone downhill fast for The Commish.

My beloved Fighting Irish are 1-3 and clearly are in need of a few years of Coach Brian Kelly's new recruits!  Inherited QB Dane Crist is not the messiah and the "D" still needs to be overhauled.  The class of 2011, if all the verbals turn into signings, looks to be a Top 5 so will see.  This week we go to Boston College, which is not easy. BC hates ND. You know the Catholic thing against another Catholic thing.
At this point I'll take 6-5.

My Dolphins lost last night to the Jets. It was a great game. Chad Henne played well at times. Ronnie Brown is a good back (i say good, because I think the term "great" is often overused in sports). The Dolphins "D" is up and coming.  Yes, all is not lost. They are 2-1 and tied with the Jets and Pats for first in the East. I just hate losing to either the Jets or Pats.

I am happy for SOME of my fellow bloggers.  It's great to see the Chiefs at 3-0. I'm very happy for Matt Cassel. One of the original AFL teams playing well. Hopefully, TV will start shoiwng some games......
The Eagles are at 2-1 with the 'Skins next week.  Mike Vick is saying all the right things and claims to be trying to be a better person. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until he does something to prove otherwise.  I still Kolb can be a good QB. Give hime time.......  Colts beat the Broncos. Hopefully Frank and Mass are still talking to one another..............Ravens got back on a roll with a win at home. Flacco looked mush better than the week before.

Tonight, Packers and Bears.  Man, I can't pick who I want to win. I think the NFL is better when both of these franchises are playing well. Meaningful games in December in Lambeau and Soldier Field are fun to watch!

Spring brings hope eternal....

give me another break

Just turned on the TV, tuned into ESPN and guess what?   College Gameday is live from Frank's darling Boise St.   The fans are packed and the gameday crew is talking their usual mush.    Of course, Herbstreit, Fowler, and Howard are "homers" and all a gush with Boise St. Every time they open their mouths the Boise fans are going wild like the teenage girls did for the Beatles.  (sorry Frank and Mass,  you'll have to look in your history books for that reference)

I'm SICK OF IT!   Yes, my Irish have a tough game AGAIN vs the Stanford Cardinal today and quite frankly I don't like their chances. So there, no comments.  But give me a break!  I don't look for Boise to lose tonight.  They haven't really had a game since opening night against what has turned out to be a very poor Va Tech team.  They haven't had a rough game for any player to get bruised or injured. They're rested and hav had 3 weeks to prepare.  (yes I know they've played over the last 3 weeks, but really how much preparation was needed for Wyoming which is 1-2 and the win was a 28-20 win over Southern Utah.  By the way,  Wyoming was one of those "tough" out of conference games Boise St scheduled.  God, isn't it bad enough to play in an extremely weak conference AND schedule extremely weak out of conference foes?  Don't tell me no one will play them.  Even if Oklahoma, Bama, etc... won't schedule as Frank says, I'm sure there's at least some tougher out of conference team besides Wyoming willing to play!)

Ok, so here we are with the supposed only other tough games for Boise this year, Oregon St. (I wish ND was playing Oregon St instead of Stanford today!  Matter of fact, I wish the Irish could have played Va Tech and Wyoming and OSU for the first 3 games rather than Purdue, Michigan, Michigan St and now Stanford)
I'm sure Boise will win tonight. Will continue the hype for a BCS champ game.  I've never been a 'Bama or Ohio St fan, but quite frankly I hope they both go undefeated and play for the Championship while Boise gets to look from the outside in.

(oh by the way, Boise gets to play New Mexico St next week.....shutter with the fear!)

NFL Week 2

Well, after 2 weeks into the 2010 NFL season we need to catch up with the favorite teams of our fellow bloggers.

Are you happy with your team's start?  Already panicking?  Looking forward to next year already?

Washington Redskins (1-1):  Lost Sunday to the Texans. A little disappointing in that they were up by 17 and lost. Also didn't help that the 'Skins kicker made the winning kick, but didn't count because of the low class move of being able to call a timeout at the last second before the snap......Good news: McNabb has looked good so far...defense has and will continue to play well....I think they could go 8-8 and with some breaks maybe 10-6 and a possible playoff.

Indianapolis Colts (1-1): Beat the crap out of the Giants....Manning is Manning...Thank God the Colts have Peyton, not Eli........Are they this team or the one which got run over by the Texans in week 1?  I'm sure they still make the playoffs and a possible Super Bowl run......Over time I have come to respect and like Peyton more as I think he's a quality person.

San Francisco 49'ers (0-2): wow!  There was a lot of hype before the season regarding the 'Niners. After last night's game my review concludes that they have a very nice defense. I really like there linebackers.  Not real fond of the D backs.  They need to improve the fundamentals and special teams. That's where they lost the game to the Saints.  Muffed punt return led directly to a Saints score, which made the difference. I like Singletary as a coach and I'm surprised as the lapse in fundamentals. Right now this team could go either way....straighten up and go on a roll or it may be a long disappointing season.

Dallas Cowboys (0-2) : Supposed to be Super Bowl contenders this year...supposed to be one of the most talented teams in the league....I don't know...I see a lot of weaknesses, especially the offensive line. They don't seem too committed to the run and that leaves you depending on Tony Romo to win you games....ouch!   I predict that poor Wade Phillips won't finish the season as head coach.

Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) : It's nice that one of the original AFL teams is seemingly back!  I like the moves they've made. They haven't panicked over the past few years and have made some good draft picks. Cassel may not be a superstar at QB, but I don't think he loses you games either. Not sure if I make them a playoff team...yet.  Need to see a few more wins to believe, but they do play in a very weak West division and already have a win over the Chargers.

Miami Dolphins (2-0) : My team, so I'm going to go lightly.  We've been down for some time. Won the division year before last, but lost 1 game into playoffs.  The defense really seems to be an up and comer, although I can barely name you more than 4 starters....Chad Henne is still a work in progress at QB and that could be their downfall....Also, can't have either Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams get hurt. This week we play the Jets on Sunday night.....obviously I want a win, but if not I want to see them play a full 60 minutes

Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) : 1st, let me say please bring back the uniforms they wore on opening day! You know, the ones which were actually GREEN!  Look at pictures of when Buddy Ryan coached. I watch Eagles games even though they're not "my" team. I probably root for them to win almost every week, but please get rid of the blueish-green color!  With that said....I'm not sure if they are a playoff team this year.  Like the 'Skins they could go 8-8 or better with breaks. ...QB has to be figured out.  I like Kolb, always have. I think he's got a great arm, but obviously lacks experience.   Vick played well against the Lions and don't sneeze this year at the Lions "D".  The one drawback the Eagles have has never left town.....that's the play calling of Andy Reid!

Baltimore Ravens (1-1) : I figured the defense would still be good, but they have been stout the 1st two games! They've given up 10 and 15 points respectively in the first 2 games. They should be 2-0 with only given up that few points.  I tell you, if the offense doesn't start playing better and scoring points I think Ray Lewis may take Joe Flacco to a back alley...... They are as skilled on offense as any team, but I'm not sure if Harbaugh knows how to utilize them.  Playoff team, but not a title contender until they can start to score some points.

Good luck everyone in week 3. I hope all our teams win!

Can Society Be Anymore Touchy?

Recently, Clinton Portis has been brought to task because of some comments he made regarding female sports reporters in a male NFL lockerroom.

If you don't know, there was a mexican female reporter at a Jets practice recently. During practice there were cat-calls and comments made towards the reporter from Jet players.  To her credit, the reporter has not claimed any harrassment, but now the media and NFL is all in a hush. Poor Portis made a comment which any of us would.  He simply said that given any gender in a lockerroom of the opposite sex there will be comments and someone bound to get attracted or turned on. I mean, there are 53 pro athletes walking around in towels and changing. How could there not be at least 1 player the female reporter is attracted to?.....Now Portis has been reprimanded for that and the Redskins have said they will meet with Portis.  Wow!  What did he say that was wrong?

Now, let's add some info.....Ines Sainz is the reporter and she outwordly labels herself as the "Sexiest Sports Reporter in the World".  Check out these pics:

By the way, her main motive was to interview Mark Sanchez.....Portis also thought she was out to attract him and his multi-million $ contract.    Good point!
