Ten Things I am Really SAD About!!!
1) Sad to hear that Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, the Waltons, and the rest of the Forbes 400's total worth dropped from $1.57 trillion to $1.27 trillion. What a shame!
2) Sad to see that Brett Favre lifted the hopes of the Viking fans with his miracle last second TD pass. Wait until he throws 14 interceptions in his last 3 games and his first playoff game. The Farvelous Brett Favre!!
3) Sad to presume that Eric Mangini is on the hot seat in Cleveland. If he had only inherited Bill Belichick's personality and player friendly attitude.
4) Sad to think President Obama wants our kids to go to school longer. They aren't learning crap now, what makes him think another month of school will help??
5) Sad to live in Iran. By the time their bottle rocket does 13 circles in the air we will have 1000 nukes up their ass. Unless of course President Obama traded them in for 12 month school books?
6) Sad to watch the new Jay Leno Show. It really, really, really does SUCK!!!
7) Sad to know the major league baseball season is almost over. Finally, the team with the highest payroll may win the Series.
8) Sad to be the Washington Redskins who couldn't beat the 0-500 Detroit Lions.
9) Sad for the assistant coaches of the Oakland Raiders and the University New Mexico Lobos. Now that's the definition of a Hostile Work Environment.
10) Sadly Timmy Tebow discovered he is human and that hopefully Coach Meyer learned to pull his star player when he has a huge lead. Oh wait... can't boost Heisman numbers when Timmy is on the bench!
Til next time,
Learn to laugh at yourself, because everyone one else is!!!!

STATS STATS STATS STATS!!!! Enough Already!!
Well done Fritz with the NFL Power Rankings! Looks like you did a little research and the stats are good too. I was watching The Boys/Panthers game and it got me thinking about.... STATS!
One thing that irks me is the ridiculous STATS during any game. Sure, I like the pertinent STATS that are relevant, ie... leading rusher, best defense, most home runs, etc etc etc. But, some of the stuff they come up with is just plain idiotic. I think they do this to try and make a player/team look more or less impressive.
Tonight's STAT was that Tony Romo and T. Owens hooked up for 34 TDs which is the most by a Cowboy QB/WR tandem for a 3 year period. Makes Tony R. Homo look very impressive doesn't it?? Wonder what his hook up STATS are for his playoff appearances??
Don't even get me started with baseball STATS. There has to be a million of them and millions of subsections for each of those. Joe Blow is hitting 347 when a base runner between the age of 23 and 27 is on third base, between July 7th and August 24th, and the count is 3 and 1. RIDICULOUS!! I feel bad for the statisticians, they probably want to comitt suicide by the 5th inning.
The best is when sports commentators make the astounding comment about a team not making the playoffs or having a good year. This will be the first year the Packers have made the playoffs since 2006. WOW!!! A whole 3 years!! Shock me when a team makes the playoffs for the first time in 25 years!!
Yet another reason to watch games with the sound turned off!!!
Til next time,
If you love her, set her free! If she comes back, set her on FIRE!!!!

Another One Bites the Dust!!!!!!!!!
I know I'm a day late and a a dollar short but I just saw that #4 Ole Miss is yet another top ten team to get upset (sorry I got a 4 day old newborn at home and I don't know what day it is). Anyway, college football has certainly had a very interesting start and I don't look for the upsets to end. Saturday looks to have a few interesting games but nothing to spectacular. My Canes travel to Blacksburg to face the highly ranked Hokies. VT always has a killer defense but I think their offense is a little suspect. If The U steps it on defense they should get the win but I wouldn't be surprised if goes either way. Penn State faces Iowa so we can see what the Lions are all about. The Irish will battle Purdue in what usually is a good close game. Interested to see if Pete Caroll rushes his true frosh QB back into the mix even though he is nursing a hurt throwing arm. Great coaching Pete!! Lets ruin the kid who will be your QB for the next 3 to 4 seasons.
Looking at the NFL schedule, I am not overly impressed. The league already seems to be injury ridden and it's only been two weeks. The only hot game appears to be Vikings/49ers game. The only game with two 2-0 teams playing each other. One thing I do like about the season thus far is that it looks like the league is pretty even and no team is really standing out as a power house.
Is it just me or does Tiger Woods look bored as hell playing this week. As I've mentioned before this Fed Ex Cup crap sucks donkey crotch. I still don't get this point system and I thought the BCS was complicated. NBC.com has the scenarios for all 30 players if one is interested. You should see some of them. I don't get how you can be leading the whole thing by more than 1500 points coming into the final tourney (the tour championship), and then all points are "reset" so you are now leading by 250. The 6th place person, Padraig Harrington, has to win and Tiger finish tied for 2nd or worse OR he can finish 2nd and Tiger has to finish 9th or worse with Steve Stricker finishing tied for 4th or worse AND Jim Furyk finishing solo 4th or worse AND the winner coming from the 16 to 30 spot.
WHAT THE ---- YOU KNOW WHAT???!!!!!!!!
How can a 6th ranked guy finish 1st and the #1 ranked guy finish 2nd AND the 6th ranked guy win it all??? Not to mention that the 6th ranked guy was almost 5000 points behind #1 before the points were magically reset.
I'll tell why this is the way it is. I like Tiger and I feel he is by far the best player now and probably the best ever. BUT, this Fed Ex Cup points system was designed specifically for him. So if he was behind a little or a lot coming into the final tournament he would have a chance to win. Unfortunately this year the PGA could screw themselves. Tiger was ahead all year and ahead of almost everyone by a lot. Now if he doesn't finish in the top two he will probably be ousted.
Just my thoughts. Enjoy them!!
Til next time,
Watch out for crop dusters!!

IT'S EARLY, BUT IT'S MAKE OR BREAK TIME FOR SOME TEAMS IN THE NFL
Even though it's only week 3, this weekend could make or break some teams. There are quite a few 0-2 teams that should they lose again in week 3 could be out of a playoff spot already. Hard too imagine, but 0-3 in the NFL is just too big a hole to climb out. A win doesn't guarantee success, but at least the patient stays alive, even if on life support. Let's take a look:
St. Louis Rams (0-2): Even with a win, don't look for a playoff run. This team just needs to show some improvement. Home this week against the Packers. Don't think the Pack is Super Bowl bound, but hey, their in the hunt. Rams go 0-3.
Detroit Lions (0-2): Ever wonder why you never see the Lions on Monday Night Football? Because they're bad! What have we got to do to get them off on Thanksgiving. It really is a shame. They're a historic team in the NFL. In my opinion, like the Vikings, the lions lost toughness as soon as they started playing in an indoor stadium. Winter in Detroit would be like having a 12th man. Do you think say the Bucs, Cardinals, Cowboys, etc... really want to go to Detroit in December?
Host the Redskins this week. This is intriging! I say the home cooking is warm. Lions win their 1st of the year. Zorn on th hotseat.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2): OK, Giants coming into town.....Bucs have no aspiration of playoffs this year, coach has made rebuilding clear, however, fired offensive coordinator only 2 weeks before the season started.... Personally I like Brian Leftwich, but he'll be like a statue against the Giant rush...... Bucs go 0-3, Devil Rays wet the bed this year...all is normal in Tampa....
Carolina Panthers (0-2): Since having a few good playoff teams a few years ago, this team has done nothing to get better.....matter of fact has continued to go backwards every year since the Super Bowl year..... is John Fox still the coach? How in the hell did they get scheduled for Monday night? Get a good book, Cowboys bounce back in a BIG way...
Miami Dolphins (0-2): Hoe do you hold the ball on offense for 45 mins and yet give up 27 points and lose?....if you saw last Monday's gaem you saw......After 2 decades the Fins now seem to have a running game with Ronnie Brown and Ricky "Marley" Williams....problem is now they have no passing game...sorry, with Pennington at QB the Dbacks don't need to play more than 15 yards off the ball.....travel west to see the Chargers this week...can't stand the Chargers and Norv may be the worst head coach in football, but the Chargers have more talent......Fins go 0-3 and start seeing where they'll draft...
Kansas City Chiefs (0-2): Matt Cassel is playing hurt. After him is Brodie Croyle?..... keep rebuilding.....they play hard, but just lack any skill position players and Larry Johnson is getting a shorter career with every 25plus carry day...visiting the Eagles with Mike Vick making his debut.....Eagles not as good as some thought, but enough to beat the Chefs......THIS GAME WON'T BE A DOG FIGHT... Chiefs go 0-3....
Cleveland Browns (0-2): I feel bad for this team.....some of you may be too young to remember the "dog pound" and old Municipal Stadium on the edge of Erie. This city has seen some great football and years ago saw championships (yes the last was in the early 60s)..... sold a bill of goods hiring Mangini to coach...I mean did you see the Jets improve over the past 2 years?.....Let's keep this short.....travel to Baltimore, Ray Lewis and Joe Flacco offer to play "All Time" QB and Linebacker, yet lose big...0-3.....
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3): this team was on the verge about 3 years ago.....somebody tell me how Jack Del Rio is still the coach.... they've made dumb position moves and have bad game plans....play the Texans this week... if Matt Schaub doesn't get hurt, the Texans put up 30+ points and roll....sorry Florida....0-3 is easy to see....
Tennessee Titans (0-2): the best 0-2 team in America!.... lost 13-10 in Pittsburgh.....scored over 30 against the Texans and lose..... Jeff Fisher has competitive teams every year...playing the Jets in New Jersey so it's road game for both teams...this game may be the toughest of the week to call.... I picked Titans in my weekly picks, but man, I could see both win this game..... a low scoring game favors the Jets, high scoring the Titans as Jets offense not ready to put up 30.... game could decide on weather. good weather means better scoring.... I say the Titans have too much pride to go 0-3..... staying alive at 1-2......
Amazing! Out of all the 0-2 teams, I have the Lions as 1 of only 2 possible winners. Even I am shaking my head, but the schedule maker is harsh......I only hope your favorite team is not one of the above.....
St. Louis Rams (0-2): Even with a win, don't look for a playoff run. This team just needs to show some improvement. Home this week against the Packers. Don't think the Pack is Super Bowl bound, but hey, their in the hunt. Rams go 0-3.

NFL WEEK 2 OBSERVATIONS........
Ravens (2-0) 31 Chargers (1-1)26: once again, a Norv Turner led team will always be a mediocre team....win one week, lose the next... Ravens offense is becoming one of the best in NFL...Flacco throws 2 TDs and was an effecient 17-26....
Broncos (2-0) 27 Browns (0-2) 6: ...more of a result of the Brownies just being bad than broncos being good....Orton did throw for 263yds....where was that while in Chicago...
Bears(1-1) 17 Steelers (1-1) 6:...what?....bottom line: Cutler throws 2TDs with no interceptions...i just heard some jump off the Steeler bandwagon.....
Bills (1-1) 33 Bucs (0-2) 20: Leftwich throws for 296, but Bucs only run the ball 19 times...Freddy Jackson runs for 163yds...one of the best-kept secrets in the NFL.....
49ers (2-0) 23 Seahawks (0-2) 10:....Singletary up and comer young coach...gets more out of players...however, don't go fitting the 49ers for rings just yet, they still have Terp,Shaun Hill, at QB and Gore can't run for 207yds every week....
Falcons (2-0) 28 Panthers (0-2) 20:.....LOVED the Atlanta throwbacks from the early 70's.....wish they would go back instead of the current (is it just me or are the throwbacks for most teams better than the "modern"designer uniforms sported now?...)...Panthers are bad.....
Vikings (2-0) 27 Lions (0-2) 13:...it's the Lions....am I the only one beginning to hate Bret Favre.....
Redskins (1-1) 9 Rams (0-2) 7:...as long as Jason Campbell is the QB for the skins expect about this many points....
Texans (1-1) 34 Titans (0-2) 31....i didn't see the Titans starting 0-2....Matt Schaub rakes up 357 in the air on Tennessee....have you ever heard of WR Andre Johnson?......
Saints (2-0) 48 Eagles (1-1) 22....my God, Andy Reid may be one of the worst coaches to call a balanced attack....1st time starter Kolb throws for 391yds, but took 51 attempts to do it......dfference-Kolb throws 3 INTS - Brees throws 3 TDs.....
Jets (2-0) 16 Patriots (1-1) 9........as a Dolphins fan, I can't stand either one, however Jets are the lesser of two evils...... amazing how a new coach like Rex Ryan can take basically same set of players (oh and about half of Baltimore's defense with him) and turn around a team.....don't get oversold just yet....
Raiders (1-1) 13 Chiefs (0-2) 10.....Chiefs will be in games all year, but usually fall on short end.....Raiders severly overpaid for Jamarcus Russell.....Russell completes only 7 of 24 passes....he's the least accurate thrower in the league....should have beat the Chargers last monday if he could have thrown it anywhere remotely close to his receivers........
Cardinals (1-1) 31 Jaguars (0-2) 17: ....good for Warner....everyone calling for his demise and he only complete 24 of 26.....Jack Del Rio must have something on somebody in the Jacksonville front office to be keeping his job.......
Bengals (1-1) 31 Packers (1-1) 24.......don't blame Aaron Rodgers. he throws for 261yds...blame the fact that the Pack only ran the ball 18 times compared to 34 times for Cincy...the NFL is getting so pass happy....neither will be playing come late January...
Giants (2-0) 33 Cowboys (1-1) 31 ......nice stadium, like the "cage girls" on the 2nd level the best....Romo may be a nice guy, but throws way too many INTs....G-Men win the NFC East...
Dolphins (0-1) Colts (1-0) ..... to be played
Broncos (2-0) 27 Browns (0-2) 6: ...more of a result of the Brownies just being bad than broncos being good....Orton did throw for 263yds....where was that while in Chicago...

MY THOUGHTS !!!!!!!!!
Several things I learned this weekend from the sports world:
1) Tom Brady is mortal and the PATS are a fumble away from being 0-2.
2) Rex Ryan is a defensive mastermind just like his daddy. He appears to be Tom Brady's kriptonite.
3) Golf isn't the same with just the LPGA and Champions Tour on TV.
4) Pete Caroll and USC always loses one game to a unranked, inferior team.
5) BYU, Boise St, Fresno St, Utah, etc.. stop bitchin about the BCS. FSU showed why these 1A mid-conference teams should not be playing for the title regardless of their record.
6) Why I don't spend 50 bucks on UFC fights because it costs me about $16.60 per minute.
7) Baseball season is too long and the teams that are out of the race should stop playing.
8) Their used to be a time when there was a NFL game on every major network. Thanks NFL network and greedy owner blackouts!!!
9) That Keith Olberman is a asshole whether he is doing sports or the news.
10) Guaranteed that if it's a perfect weather for golfing weekend, I WILL BE WORKING!
Til next time,
Keep the toilet seat up!!

Rock You Like A H U R R I C A N E - UM 33 GT 17
THERE BAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, just a little excited!! I've suffered the last 4 years while sticking by as my Canes were rebuilding and finally they look like the job is almost done. They won a thriller last week by beating #21 FSU. Tonight they crushed #14 GT and there vaunted option offense. If you recall GT put up over 460 yards rushing on the Canes last year. Tonight GT was held to around 100. Don't let the score fool you. Miami dominated and it easily should of been 40 to 3. GT's only two scores were bombs to there stud WR. Think Shannon would of paid a little more attention to the star 6'4 230 burner. I still think we are about a year away. Harris picked apart GT's defense and he looks to be the real deal. Lots of under classman and a great recruiting class.
The road ahead is tough though. Next week they play #13 VT followed immediately by the #12 Sooners. Later on they take on #24 NC who is a up and coming ACC team as well. Lets see.... There first four games are against top 20 teams and 5 top 25 teams are on there season schedule. Don't expect them to run the table but it certainly makes your team better by playing the better teams. I think they learned this from UF who has 2 top 25 teams on there schedule and who can forget Troy and CSU.
Two things that really bothered me during the game. 1) I hate when games are played on football/baseball hybrid fields. It doesn't look right and I'm sure it doesn't feel right.
2) Jesse Palmer was co-announcing with Craig James and Chris Fowler. Jesse would not shut the hell up and gave 5 minute dissertations between every play. Didn't help that every time Craig James said something he asked Jesse if he agreed. KNOW YOUR ROLE JESSE!! You were a backup at UF, a backup in NY, a jitbag on the Bachelor, so maybe somebody is trying to tell you something!?
Til next time,
Watch your six!!!

Patrick Wayne Swayze, August 18, 1952 to September 14, 2009
I would like to take the time to honor one of our greatest movie icons, Pat Swayze, who passed away yesterday.
Whether it was his debut role as Ace Johnson in "Skatetown, USA" or his award winning role as Johnny Castle in "Dirty Dancing".... Pat Swayze could bring it to the big screen.
Who could forget (I tried) his inspiring role as Sam Wheat in "Ghost." What determination he showed by not wanting to cross over to the other side and save his woman (Demi Moore) from his killer. But I don't think I would want to cross over either if I had Demi Moore back in the mortal world, molding a clay pot between her bare thighs. Thank God Whoopi set him straight just as she does to so many guests on The View!
Or what about his ass kickin role as Dalton in "Roadhouse." A rouge bouncer who settles in a small country town only to discover he has bounced the wrong person. You know your a bad ass when you don't have a last name.
Speaking of bad ass. I was glued to the screen while watching him star as Bodhi in "Point Break" which is probably one of his greatest all time roles. Imagine being able to elude the clutches of Keano Reeves only to be crushed to death by a giant 50 ft wave. What a way to go when your are a bad ass (again, no last name).
Any way you slice it Pat Swayze had a hell of a career and we will certainly miss him and his contribution to the big screen. Thanks to you Patrick Swayze.... I truely have had, The Time of my Life!!
Til next time,
Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar

OBSERVATIONS
I'm tired of.......
...Jonathan Papelbon and his over the top actions before each pitch...........
.....how some think "reality" TV shows are "real".......I mean, would you act normal if you knew you were being filmed...............how interesting is true real life anyway?.......
.....sports announcers......every shot is the hardest ever.......calling every player "great (shouldn't that term be reserved for players who are truly great).........the following are "TOOLS": Steve Phillips, Chris Collingsworth, Tim McCarver, ......
...Keith Olberman...Racheal Madow...
.....Urban Meyer....
...oil companies claiming how tough they have it while making 40 billion in 3 months...
......Jimmy Carter.....he wasn;t relevant when he was relevant...
...how everything HAS to be a "race" issue.....
.......Rush Limbaugh......he's a hate monger.....
...every show on VH1 has trashy people with stupid nicknames....
...........why it takes so long for a criminal to go through court trials....there ought to be a different standard for justice for clear cut criminal cases.........................
.......today's teenagers with no respect for anybody, including themselves.......
....the World Baseball Classic.....I'm the best players for the U.S. don't even play.....Jeremy Guthrie was a starting pitcher..........................
.......why does the NFL feel the need to play a regular season in England......who cares about the Brits when it comes to American football.............NFL, quit trying to expand beyond your tried and true base. Just look at the current problems NASCAR is having. Some tracks are trying to give tickets away......
....the cost of healthcare................................
.........the WNBA......has anyone even watched a game on TV?.........................
.....I know there's more, but I'm tired of listing what I'm tired of being tired about....

President Obama, Taylor Swift, Kanye West
OK, NO MATTER YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATION, I THINK HERE's SOMETHING WE ALL CAN AGREE WITH. President Obama gets this one right on the money.
KANYE WEST IS AN "ASSHOLE".
After West's rude interruption of sweet Taylor Swift during the MTV Video awards, Pres. Obama was overheard calling West an "Asshole". YES! Way to go Prez!
While preparing for an interview, the Prez was asked if his daughters were annoyed by Kanye West's actions while Taylor was on stage.
"I thought it was really inappropriate," Obama says. "What are you butting in (for)?... The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She's getting her award. What's he doing up there?
A questioner chimes in, "Why would he do it?"
"He's a Jackass," Obama replies.
Like him or not, I'm glad someone finally speaks their mind about respectless jerks like Mr. West and don't bow down to these entertainers who think they are God's gift.
The Strong Shall survive
I think I have figured it out......
The difference between the haves and have nots in the NFL is brains! Yes, smarts, intelligence....
Just look at the Monday Night Football games from Sept. 14th. The Bills should clearly have beaten the Patriots and the Raiders should have ended there losing streak against the Bolts. Both, in my opinion, outplayed there opponent, out hit their opponent, out toughed their opponent. Yet, both gave the games away with stupid, dumb, idiotic plays.
The bills are up with a couple of minutes left. They had just given up a TD and were set to recieve the kickoff. Prepared in case of an onside kick, the "hands" team was in instead of the blocking team. All the bills' returner had to do was down the ball in the endzone or, at the very least, just fall down before getting hit. Instead, he tries to run through a wall of Pats with little blocking. End result, fumble. Pats recover, score TD. Game over.
By the way, would the Bills and Pats please keep wearing the throwback uniforms. Much better than the modern, poor taste styles. Yeah for the old gray facemasks.
The Raiders. Like them or not, you'd have to agree the NFL would be a more interesting place if the Raiders would become relevant again. Some of you may not remember, but there were some great, hard hitting playoff games through Oakland in the 70's and 80's.
Jamarcus Russell went 12-30 passing. At times he missed his receivers by at least 10 yards. If he was a baseball pitcher he would have been pulled in the first after walking in 4 runs and just having reloaded the bases on walks.
However, the Raiders hit like the Raiders of old. Time after time Chargers had to be helped off the field after getting their bell rung. The Raiders again seemed intimidating. But, with the game on the line the Raiders seemed to change their defensive scheme. Linebackers seemed to drop 15 to 20 yards on each pass play instead of playing tight like they had all night. Result: P. Rivers, who's throwing action looks like someone with a seperated shoulder, hits running backs underneath for chunks of yards. Final straw was a go ahead TD with seconds left.
Neither are my favorite team. (however, I did have a Raiders helmet, jersey, and pants when I was about 11 or 12) But, damn, I was pulling for both the Bills and Raiders. I wanted them to mix things up with the standings. I want the Pats to struggle. I don't have faith in a Norv Turner coached team. You could tell the Bolts were undisciplined and Norv strikes no fear in their hearts. Rivers acts like a baby, not a leader. I don't have faith the Chargers will do anything even if they make the playoffs.
Let's face it , if teams like the Raiders and Bills want to improve they need to play smarter.

POLITICS (gotta have some)
Congratulations to Ruth Briggs King for winning the special election in the 37th Representative District in Delaware. Hey.....the Repubs are on a roll in Delaware with Joe Booth and Ruth King!>>>>>>>
TODAY IN SPORTS
THUMBS UP!
Miami U. and Florida St. for scheduling each other as season opener! Kudos to "the Caines". Randy Shannon is a good young coach and alumni. Also has other former "Caines" such as Michael Barrow on coaching staff. Bringing the "U" pride back. I also wish good luck to "the Noles". They did win yesterday to get back on track.......
Even though I can't stand either of these teams, same can be said for USC and The Ohio State University. They could have gone the way of many and scheduled The Blind Sisters of the Poor, but didn't. They each have good conference schedules so they may not be blamed if they did schedule a little easier out of conference. Now it looks like The Buckeyes can kiss a chance at a national championship goodbye! 1 loss and your done in this system. Keep an eye on TED MCNIGHT of the Trojans. Tough back with speed. Oh by the way....... when will Jim Tressel findly understand that you need an offense to go with defense?......
Nebraska back in the TOP 20!
2-0 Broncos of BOISE STATE......
WAY TO START THE SEASON WITH WINS: EAGLES and RAVENS.....
TIGER WOODS with a 62 on Saturday and making Sunday's golf viewing a non-event....
The US Tennis Association for taking a point away from Serena causing her the match and an ousting from the US OPEN.
THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!!!
Serena "I made a fool of myself" Williams. Did you see her tirade at the US OPEN Saturday night? No....then check out the attached video further below in the blog. After having a foot fault called on her by the line judge she walked over and told the judge she was "Gonna shove the f--king ball up her ass". Maybe someone should start steroid testing in tennis?........
University of Florida (at this time I refuse to honor them with team colors). First 2 games of the year scheduled against The College of Charleston (did you even know they had a team?) and The Troy Trojans. Gators had a close one 56-6. If Tebow wins the Heisman I hope it doesn't come down to stats piled in these 2 games......
Oklahoma State Cowboys.... Geez..... what can i say. They start the season in the top 25, beat UGA to open the season, then lose to HOUSTON!...I got nothing else to say.....
Nick Saban scheduling Florida International University..... Roll Tide.....! Yeah we're BAD!.....
All golf announcers....."that was the best shot EVER"....."he meant to hit it in the rough cause he knew he could get his ball on a tuff to sit up"...
Donovan McNabb breaking ribs in opener... I guess the Mike Vick era has begun...
All NFL stadiums with anything other than natural grass fields......

A day of DEFEAT, DOMINATION, and DISGUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets start with DEFEAT... ND lost a close battle to Michigan but at least it looks like ND has much improved over the past few years. Hopefully they can pull it together and persevere thru the rest of the season. #5 ranked OK State got busted by Houston. Now this is a upset. Houston had not won their last 11 games and I think they are scheduled to play UF next week. I hate when the commentators say upset and it's like a #12 team beating a #8 team, or Michigan beating #18 ND. Michigan is an elite program and has been so for years. Sure they have had a rough couple of years but a upset.... I don't think so. Watching the USC/Thee Ohio St. U game now and looks to be a good one down to the wire. Can't wait to see "UPSET" all over the headlines when/if #8 Thee Ohio St. U "UPSETS" #3 USC. One upset that did not happen was Troy beating UF. I guess it would not be expected when you schedule a high school team. Got to get Tebow's Heisman numbers up quickly.
Now on to DOMINATION... Like him or hate him, the man can flat out play. Tiger Woods put on a golfing display today and stomped his putter on the rest of the field. I guess he got some rest cuz he dropped a course record 62 on the field. But unfortunately we still had to hear the excuses for others. David Toms was playing poorly and it was due to exhaustion. Zach Johnson was playing bad and low and behold, he had a hurt neck that required a massage before he played. The funniest Announcer comment of the day was when Tiger was hitting a bunker shot on a par 5. He was up near the slope of the bunker and it was a awkward shot. He had to squat down a bit because he was above the ball. Of course he hits it out to about 6-8 feet and makes the birdie put. After the bunker shot the Announcer says.... "This is why Tiger does all those grueling workouts." UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!!!!
Finally we will speak about DISGUST... This is more about being annoyed than disgusted but I was going with the D theme so bare with me. Today I received a phone call and when I looked at my caller ID the number started with 555. I thought 555?, I've only seen this number in movies. It really does exhist. Could it be from Hollywood?? Maybe I was getting my big break in the Crank 3 sequel- "Jason Statham Kills the UF Gators." So I answered my phone and before I could say hello, I was greeted by Rep. Collin Bonini. He was reminding me of today's special election and asking for my vote for Mrs. King. I appreciate the proactiveness and reminder, but one call is enough. I received about 5 other calls from various elected officials as well as Mrs. King. Not to mention the twenty other calls I received this past month. The worst part is that the call is a recording and I can't yell at them. I think I'm going to make my own recording an call all these people 20 or 30 times and thank them for their 20 or 30 phone calls. Difference is... I would have DSP at my front door with a harassment warrant for my arrest.
Until next time,
Buckle Your Seatbelt!!

BETTER GOLF
CHECK OUT THE ADD BELOW FOR http://www.stackandtilt.com/!
This is a great swing method to help us non-pros hit the golf ball with more consistency. Helps get rid of the "reverse C" which causes us to lose power and worse yet, fat or thin shots.
Just take a minute to watch the vid. The concept makes sense.

Anniversary almost sounds like something you're celebrating. In the case of 9/11, I hate to use "anniversary". Let me say "remember" instead.
Let's remember:
...the passengers on the planes who felt helpless and scared...
...the people in the towers who saw a glimpse of their lives in the instant before the plane hit...
...the terror inside the people who went to the roof of the towers. simply hoping that someone would
come to their rescue...
...the position you must be in to make a human decide to jump from 100 stories as the better
option...
...the fire fighters and policemen who gave their lives in the hope of helping others. The committment
to carry out your job no matter what...
...the families, escpecially the children, of those who lost their lives.
...who did this
God Bless all and hope you never have to personally experience the same....

Football!! Football!! Football!!! Lets talk a little football today. First, I would like to give a shout out to Coach Randy Shannon and my Hurricanes for big win this past Monday. What a game!! Looks like a promising season with a lot of young and explosive talent. Still think we are about a year away from title contention. Kudos to UM and FSU for scheduling this game right off the bat and continuing a long rivalry no matter what the BCS costs (More on this later).
Second, the NFL kicked off last night and we were blessed with two good teams and a very good game. Some good games over the weekend with a couple of big inter-division battles right out of the gate. Redskins/Giants and Bears/Packers look to be the headline games. My Chiefs (Chefs) are playing Baltimore and with Cassel being out and the worst defense in the NFL, Well.... I don't like our chances. Sorry to see TP go out for the Steelers. What a freak of a football player this guy is. Always in the right place at the right time and is never out of position. Great hands and an even better tackler.
Third, go ahead and hand the BCS National Championship trophy to.... DRUM ROLE PLEASE!!!!..... The Florida Gators. Listen, I have no problem with a power house team opening with a chump team like Charleston Southern. Most big time programs do it and it is mostly done to get the kinks out and start the season off with a smooth victory. But two games in a row, I don't get it. The Gators this week will face the mighty Trojans of USC. Oops, I meant the mighty Trojans of Troy. That's right, TROY!!!! The Gators were favored in last weeks game by 75 pts and this week they are favored by 34.5 pts. Two games and favored by a combined 100+ points. I bet if you combined most of all the other teams spreads per game, for their entire schedule, you would not get 100 pts. Not to mention the rest of their schedule is not to difficult. I know conference games are pre-scheduled and they have no choice in the matter. I only see UF having a couple of hurdles this season. They have LSU, FSU and maybe Georgia. The rest of the games, FIU, Kentucky, Ark, Vandy, Miss St, SC, Troy, and CSU should be cake walks if they come to play. Tenn is a interesting game though. They have talent and a new coach who is causing quite a stir this season. But after all Kiffin has done and said, I won't be surprised if Myers puts up a 100 on him.
ND faces Michigan which should be a very good game. Hope ND crushes them cuz I don't like Coach Richy "Rich" Rodriguez to much. That's what you get for bailing on your already 5 star program. THEE Ohio St. University takes on the real mighty Trojans (USC). Hope USC busts their donkey cuz I can't stand OSU. It's a family thing. Will tell you at Flip Cup 2009.
Finally, God bless all those who perished during 9/11. The minute we forget and the minute we become complacent is when the bad stuff happens!!
Until next time,
Take one more club!!!!!

Tiger Tiger Woods Yall!!!!!!! Very interesting topic you present but I have a bit of a different view. You said it in the beginning "the announcers said" he was ........ I bet if you actually got what the Pros were thinking from them it would be far from what the announcers speculate. Sure, they are annoying as hell listening to them broadcast a tournament. How every shot is the most impossible shot in the world and more times than not the Pro pulls it off. Must not be that hard, you think?? As far as Tiger goes, I don't think he is more or less tired than any other Pro out there. He plays 15 t0 20 events a year which isn't a lot compared to the others. This year though I think he has played the most he has in a while.
Vijay plays a ton of events (probably the most on tour) and is known for always practicing. Vijay has won 26 times since 2004 and Tiger 31 times. Tiger playing probably less than half the events Vijay did. Maybe Vijay needs a little rest too. Or maybe Tiger likes being home with his supermodel wife and Vijay - well, maybe he doesn't want to be home cuz his wife isn't so supermodelish?? Who knows?
Tigers problem, in my opinion, is his DRIVER - or lack of!! Which club did he throw in the marsh?? THE DRIVER! If he is stripin it then he is pretty much unbeatable. Needs to figure it out somehow. And Steve Williams is a asshole anyway. I'm glad Tiger made him go fetch!!
Back to the commentators. It is their job to build up (suck up to) the best players. If Tiger Woods was ranked 200 in the world they wouldn't be saying crap about him. It would be someone else and we would be sick of that person too. They do it every sport; Tom Bradey, Koby Bryant, Albert Pujols, etc..... They are all made out to be Gods and when they fizzle for one game or event than they have to come up with a reason. Can't it be that they just didn't do well for that particular event? NO WAY!! Thats why I think you if you got the real story from the Pros it would be, I JUST DIDN'T HAVE IT TODAY!!
This playoff system really does suck. How can you have someone who is ranked 150 playing for the FED EX cup. He hasn't won all year and maybe has a couple of top 20's and now he is in the playoffs. PLAYOFFS... PLAYOFFS... WHAT PLAYOFFS... PLAYOFFS!! NASCAR started this stupid notion now the PGA has followed. You think maybe $$$$$ had something to do with it? I doubt it!!!!
The bottom line is this. Tiger Woods doesn't care what you, me, Jim Nantz, or what anyone else thinks!! He has a billion dollars to his name and can do or buy whatever he wants when he wants. If he wants to throw a club when he hits a bad shot, I don't care. I have done it and I'm not playing for 10 mill. I just wish he would hit one of those hacks, who yells GET IN THE HOLE, in his freakin head.
Til next time,
GO CANES!!!!

Golf/Tiger Woods
No doubt about it, Tiger Woods is the current face of golf. Sunday afternoon golf viewing is more exciting when Tiger is in contention. A tournament without him just doesn't have the same flair. But, there are few things going on which have me concerned.....
After Saturday's round at the Deutche (if that's how its spelled) Bank Championship one of the commentators on the Golf Channel claimed that the reason Tiger's not in the lead is that he's tired. That he hasn't been able to take a week off in a month and is running on empty. He even went on to say that Tiger was "taking one for the team" because he had played in The Buick Invitational and now the 1st two tournaments of the FedEx Cup playoffs. What!
First of all, let's ask Vijay about time off. He plays every week. Other players play every week. Are we supposed to feel sorry for the supposed best conditioned golfer on tour? I'm mean if you listen to Paul Azinger speak of Tiger you would think there's never been a more chisled speciman on the planet. I really think Paul has a "Man Crush" on TW. Maybe Tiger needs to get off the weights and get on the treadmill.
Second, week off? Let me get this right. If you have to work too many weeks in a row you get tired physically and emotionally? I'll remember that when I go back to work tomorrow. Let's see, I don't have another week long vacation planned for.......... And, let's put this into perspective. It's not like he has to work 50 weeks a year in order to get two weeks paid vacation and hope the weather is good for him to enjoy his timeshare in Ocean City!!!! He only plays around 13 tournaments a year!
Third, playoffs. Any system that would allow you to skip a playoff event and still be in the lead and make it to the next round is flawed. I guess the Steelers should have taken the week of the championship game off because they were tired and wanted to rest for the Super Bowl? Maybe the Yankees will skip the 1st game of the playoffs this year in order to rest!
Fourth, it's golf for goodness sakes. Most of us TAKE OFF FROM WORK TO GO PLAY GOLF. Don't bitch about playing golf when you make 71 million a year from purses and endorsements. Not too mention he still has off 39 other weeks when he's not playing, has a supermodel for a wife (although I would bet my life savings she probably high maintanence)
On a related story.... did you see the video of Tiger during the first round of the Deutsche? The one where he hit a drive and in disgust threw his driver into a marshy area and walked away for his caddie Stevie to retrieve. I never heard of Arnie or Jack throwing there clubs. Nor would I imagine Arnie treating his caddie that way. But then again, doesn't little Stevie Williams kinda strike you as a professional "ASS KISSER" anyway. "YESSIR TIGER SIR" "WUDEVER YOU WANTS MISSER" "CANS I'S KLEANS YER CLUB MASSA, oh ands ur golf clubs to"
Let's hope Tiger can find time to rest this week. Maybe Elin will rub his tired feet when he gets home. Assuming he's finished running her errands.

Save or Spend???
In response to The Bucks question about saving for retirement or s
living for the here and now......
This is a tough one... A damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Scenario 1: Live life to the fullest. Buy that new car. Eat out all the time. Travel. Don't save a
penny.
Scenario 2: Don't eat at that fancy restaurant because it costs too much. Max out on your 401K
plan. Vacation close to save on money. etc...
Somehow we need to find a balance between the two. Life is short. You never know when our time is up. Therefore, enjoy what time you have. Try not to have regrets. However, too, don't be stupid out it! You can enjoy life without borrowing money or maxing those credit cards to do so.
I advise you to save on a regular basis. Usually a pre-tax plan through an employer is the best. It comes out of your check before you get it. You don't miss it. Along with that, set up a simple saving account or money market. Keep in it 3-6 months worth of money to cover bills in the event of an accident. If you need to dip into it to enjoy yourself at Disney, OK. Just make replacing that money the priority when you get back.
Along with that make sure your life insurance is adequate. If so, then what you don't have saved will be replaced with that coverage in the event a spouse passes. Community is great, but we shouldn't depend on others to take care of our families.
Finally, keep debt low. Mortgage ok! Maybe a short term car loan. Not a car payemt equal to a house payment though!!!!! Credit cards..... tear all up except one you take on vacation or keep in the event of an emergency. You find that by having very low or no debt you'll actually have more money from your current paycheck to spend to enjoy the here and now. CUZ YOUR NOT STILL PAYING FOR THAT CHEESEBURGER YOU ATE 3 YEARS AGO AND TRYING TO HAVE MONEY TO ENJOY LIFE NOW!
If you want something, buy it! Just pay cash. In this way you'll live life, get the things you need and want, but do so with lower stress and possibly save along the way too.
You can do it! Try doing both. If you want to eat at Ruth Chris, go ahead. Just don't charge it. By the way, you know that new putter you want.......... How about a car for that daughter.......

Good to see some college football talk on the Blog. Greatest time of the year. OU was a big upset and their fans could be in for a long season if Bradford is out for a while. The rest of the games seemed to go as predicted and the VT/Bama game was good til the end. I was surprised at how well the Berkley kid for USC performed. He was the #1 ranked QB and over all player coming out of HS last year. Playing well for USC in the PAC is not easy, especially as a true freshman. My Canes kick of monday against my brother's Noles. We are young, but experienced, and hopefully we can get back into the national spotlight. Kudos to your Irish!!! Hopefully they got their stuff together this year. It's good for college football when they are doing well (In my opinion).
I response to your Health Care Reform Blog, well...... I really can't say I agree or disagree. I have not followed it to much and tend not to follow to much of the news anyway. It all seems so neagtive and useless. People say we need to vote, voice our opinions, and we can make a difference. BS!!!!! No matter who we vote for or how much we complain the goverment and big business will always have the last say in the matter. You are right about the $$$ though. The drug companies make billions selling the drugs, the medical community and politicians get kickbacks and we suffer the costs. No matter how you get/pay for your insurance we all are getting screwed somehow. In fact I feel that way about all insurance. Yea, it's great I am covered in case of any emergency. If I get really sick, crash, my house explodes, or I die - I'm covered!! But what if none of those things happen to me (except for the dying part?) Why don't I get my, or some, of my money back over the years for being a healthy, careful, and safe person? Why is my money going to help pay for others who have these problems?? Don't know and I don't really care because IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!! I will just keep paying my money and pray nothing bad happens so my rates don't go up. Oh, I forgot about also paying for illegal aliens, people on welfare, prisoners, etc... Enough said!!!!!!!!!!
I had a interesting talk with a close friend the other day. It was about saving money and retirement. It was sprung by the recent passing of two people we knew very well. One was in his mid 50's and the other 29. We asked oourselves is it worth it to save save save for retirement or should you enjoy and spend while you are alive and kicking?? By all means I want to be set when I retire but I also feel I owe to myself and my family to enjoy our time now. Both my parents died at young ages and whatever they did or did not have for retirement, well it doesn't matter now does it? Just a thought!
I too would also like to give my heart felt sympathy to the Mitchell and Spicer families. I knew both Donnie and Chad very well and it is a great loss that both are gone.
Well, I look forward to future Blogs and your responses.

NOTRE DAME OPENING DAY!
This is it! Opening day college football 2009. Home vs. Nevada.
Yes, Nevada has a powerful offense. Yes, ND has had trouble stopping people on D over the past few seasons. We've all been looking forward to that dominating defensive game where ND shutouts an opponent.
But if Nevada wants a shootout, here it comes. Clausen is now a junior. He should be better. Armando Allen needs to step up. Fullback is a question mark. Weis needs to get the fullback more physical. Golden Tate should be going deep to stretch the "D". Let's establish a running game for once. Cannot throw it 50 times against USC and be succesfull. It starts now!
Button up, pull it down, click it tight! Todays the day of a new season.

Tribute
God bless two recent passings, Donny Mitchell and Chad Spicer.
Donny was a great guy who liked golf, sports, and friends Fun loving who lost battle with cancer.
Chad Spicer was a young guy who found his way as a local police officer. Chad was just doing his job when a piece of dirt decided to pull a gun a shoot point blank.
May God look after them.

Healthcare Reform...? or just the same way 4 someone else to make $
Healthcare! Reality is that most people aren't getting the whole story. No matter what side of the aisle you sit on, somebody is lying to you. Oh...they may not be flat out telling you a fib, they just may not be telling you info period. Politicians and their media counterparts are notorious for lying by not discussing or addressing a subject.
At what point are Americans going to stop listening to fatty Rush, like sheep to slaughter, and wake up with a mind of their own? When are they going to finally tell lezy Madow that she's a joke of a journalist?
If you don't think healthcare in this country is in need of reform, then you obviously get it 100% provided by your employer with low deductibles and/or co-pays!!!!! Govt. and state employees have no concept of the real world cost of healthcare...... Own a business and try to provide it! Work doesn't provide......TRY PAYING 100% out of pocket! It's amazing. Those who say we have the best system are the same ones who make a zillion and $500 a month premiums are like $0.50 TO YOU AND I.
Has anyone realistically called for TORT REFORM? NO! Don't let the republican supporters fool you. They may bring it up on every talk show, but has any Senatorial/Representative elected pushed the issue! NOT! Don't forget 2/3 of them are lawyers. The Repubs. don't want torn reform any more than the Dems.
Has anyone even mentioned a way to reduce the cost of drugs. That cost alone for our healthcare system is astronomical. God forbid the drug companies are limted in their "for profit" existence. When one 30 day supply bottle of a drug costs $200 and up, something is stinking wrong with this picture. Oh yeah, I forgot......don't speak ill of a free capitalistic society. Maybe you and I shouldn't be charged higher prices to make up for the free programs for those who don't pay. Why is it you can buy the same drug in Canada for a 1/3 of the cost? Oh yeah, that govt. limits the costs so people can afford more than aspirin. Drug companies.... oil companies......they're all the same!
You got answers? We want answers? Don't expect them from your elected officials regardless of whether they have an "R" or a "D" after their name.
