Charles Barkely once said, "I am not a role model". A comment many didn't want to hear and criticized him for. But what Chuck meant was that he's just an athlete. One who was fotunate enough to make it to the pros and get paid a king's ransom. That's it. Pro athlete's shouldn't automatically be viewed as people we or our youth should emulate.
Flash forward to the present and look at El Tigre and his harem of models, waitresses, sex pots, etc...
Tiger promoted a clean cut image. Dressed neatly and articulate, Tiger was the image of an athlete who, like him or hate him, could be viewed as someone who succeeded in his field, promoted his sport, strived to be the greatest of all-time, and started foundations to help others.
Now the paint starts to peel and we see a glimpse of actual reality.
A late night auto accident......an enraged wife who just so happens to carry golf clubs around with her.....reported damage to the entrance of his home from a domestic altercation.... taped voicemails requesting a former lover to cancel her phone service..... and now transcripts of texts sent indicating he was "gonna wear you out" (to his cocktail waitress), and "have you been fu.ked in a while?"...
I guess earnings in the range of over $1 Billion is just not enough. Or maybe its the attraction which allows a person to get more??
You can say, Hey Tiger's human. That's a cop out! Not all humans cheat on their wives or as the days go by find out that multiple people were involved.
I'm beginning to think that Tiger, who at Stanford, reminded me of "Urkel" now has the looks, power, and money to go crazy. Maybe getting married wasn't the best thing for him right now?
Say what you want, but the greatest golfer of all time is still Jack Nicklaus. And just think, Jack was able to win 20 majors and still be married for the last 50 years! With all this happening I suspect Tiger in 2010 will experience another major drought.
Who's next.....Derek Jeter?

1) How do you know Jack wasn't screwing around during his illustrious 18 majors and 50 year marriage? Jack did play during a era where infedelity was kept much more secretive and there weren't all these money grubbing whores running around.
ReplyDelete2) I give Tiger's 14 majors more weight then Jack's 18 majors. Why??? For one Jack got to play on greens that were about 7 on the stimpmeter with hardly any undulation. Those guys could just line it straight up, smack it hard, and it went in. Greens today are wicked slick and the undulations are rediculous. Two, Tiger has much better focus then Jack. Jack dominated during his perfect marriage and no stress. Tiger does it juggling a wife and 3 or more mistresses. Can you imagine what kind of focus and balls of steel this guy has. Imagine winning all these tournaments knowing your wife is on one side of the fairway and your bitches are on the other side. Now thats focus!!
3) The only person Tiger has to answer to, in this matter is... himself, his wife, and his neighbor for smashing his tree. Tiger should just tell everyone else to go fuck themselves (Really, he should say that. On TV everytime someone askes him about it. That would be so great). He's got a billion dollars!!! There is no way he should be giving a shit about this.
4) There is no way his image is tarnished in anyway by this. In a few months this will all be forgotten unless he screws up again. Plus, his sponsors have to be loving it. There is no way they drop him. Almost all the products/companies he endorses are bought/used by men and a lot of them are cheating as well... I think I will by a Tag Heuer watch with my American Express card so I know when when it's time to pick up my new Buick so I can get to the drug store to buy a Gillette razor so I look good tonight when I meet Kitten at the Dubai Desert Hotel. Think about it. Millions of men around the world are saying... Hell yea Tiger!! I don't think he will be losing to much green.
5) I agree that Tiger should not have gotten married this soon. He wasn't ready and I'm sure he jumped into this because Elin was his first piece of real hotty. This is typical of people who have been focused on one thing their whole lives (in this case golf) and aren't allowed to develop socially. Maybe if he was allowed to "experience" life a little more and his ife wasn't so regimented, then maybe... who knows?? Maybe he is just a rich, conceted, booty chaser??? Good for him!!!!!!!!!!
Til next time,
Pre-paid cell phones are untraceable!!!
OK, I can't agree with you "The Buck". Either your comparison of Tiger vs Jack by comparing the greens nor with the seemingly acceptance of Tiger's actions.
ReplyDeleteFirst, you want to point out the speed of today's greens and undulations....ok there faster....BUT AT LEAST THEY'RE SMOOTH AND FLAT! Jack played in an era of metal spikes and much less landscape knowledge and equipment. Greens were much bumpyer (if thats a word) in 1962 than today. They weren't rolled as much and nobody could stop some gorilla in the group ahead of you from dragging a cleat and leaving a channel the size of the Suez Canal across the green.
Second, equipment.......El Tigre has never had to hit a driver made of wood. Fuck, The Golden Bear was hitting drivers in the 50's, 60' and 70's that were made of persimmom and were about the size of today's rescue clubheads. Talk about no forgiveness. An even with that, Jack regularly still hit it over 300yds from the tee. Tiger has had the forgiveness fortune of the best clubhead technology ever with the size of a child's head! Hell, Tiger's weakest part of his game is keeping it in play off the tee. I'd like to see him score as well with a driver about a 10% as forgiving as the one he uses.
Also on technology, IRONS. My God the blades Jack used in the 50's and 60's were half the clubhead size of Tiger's and at least 2 club lengths shorter. Let's not even talk about shaft technology. Padraig Harrington did an article for Golf Digest about 6 months ago comparing his Wilson clubs today with a set of Wilson irons from 1960. Hit hits his 8 iron an average of 160 yards. His average with the '60 Wilsons...138yds!!!!! The best he could smack the 1960 Wilson driver was 262yds. That's what Cory Pavin hits a driver and all the golf world talks about him as being one of the shortest hitters on tour!
Finally, Tiger's a fool. Never put anything in writing or recording. Don't marry and, more importantly, don't start having kids if you're not ready! No Tiger won't have to worry about money troubles...and Elin will probably be able to be bought off to stay around. I just hope Tiger has enough focus off the golf course to become a better father. Who gives a crap about beating The Bear's major record if you neglect and your kids grow up in a situation they didn't bargain for!
Whoa!!!!!!! I think I struck a nerve????
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I did not say I accepted Tiger's actions. I was only stating that his actions are his and his family's business. Not mine, not yours, not the medias... The speculation in the is matter is hilarious. Besides, millions of people, WITH KIDS, have divorced and seperated over infidelity and I'm sure they would have love to have been told they fucked up royally and they never should have married and they basically shit on their children as a result. Sorry!!! Don't Agree!!! I'm sure if this was John Doe from your local golf course we would all be up in arms about his actions, RIGHT???
Second, I was trying to make a joke when it came to Tiger's and Jacks's major wins and focus (AMONG OTHER THINGS). But I didn't get the memo that we changed the name of the blog from The One True Word to The One Serious Word! Soooooooo, if it's serious you want then serious you shall get!!!
Can anyone honestly say that the courses Jack played on were equally as difficult as the one's today? The greens are much faster, the courses much longer, and the rough is longer. I now you are trying to defend Jack but go play Sussex Pines and after that go play Bethpage Black. See what your scores are?? It would probably be better at Sussex Pines naturally, where the greens are bumpyer and slower, the course is way shorter, and the rough... what rough???
Then there is technology. Here is a heads up before I get started... most of the tour pros still use medal spikes. Tour pros just know how to walk properly on greens and fix ball marks.
A blade is a blade. I can show you my callaway blades I have now and Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear blades my dad bought in the 70s. They are the same size. Both have steel shafts and the last I heard they haven't changed the make up of steel. Plus, I could hit those irons the same distance I hit my current 2008 blades. Padraig should just worry about not hitting his ball 30 yds past the hole into the water.
Persimmon v. titanium??? No difference in a tour pros hands. Persimmon woods are a lot like blade irons. Small sweet spot but when you consistantly hit that sweetspot the ball goes equal distance as titanium or cavity back irons/woods. Then why don't the pros still use them you probably ask?? Marketing! Steel then titanium woods were designed for shitty golfers. Golf companies pay the pros to use their products then shitty golfer sees the pro using the nice, new big driver (which promises 30 more yards and more control) and the shitty golfer then buys it. Trust me... their would be little difference if pros went back to persimmon woods.
Ok, I'm done being serious. I am sorry if my blog offended anyone (including Jack Nicklaus). I was going to talk about Tim Tebow crying after his big loss tonight but I wouldn't want to get anyones' panties in a bunch!!
Til next time,
I'm selling $25 raffle tickets to suck Jack Nicklaus's nut sack!!! Only have a few left so let me know ASAP!!
The Buck, your right you have struck a nerve. You just failed to see that it is your nerve that was struck.
ReplyDeleteI wont argue who was/is better between the greatest known golfer Jack and the Second greatest known golfer Tiger. Its not fair because of the time period they played in and the Technology. Yes, their is a huge difference between what Jack played with and what Tiger has to use. The biggest piece is the golf ball. In no way are they even close to egual.
As for Tiger and his personal business i agree it is not my business. If Tiger believes that too then quit releasing statements and keep it to yourself. On a personal note, if the rumors of him changing his prenup just to keep her around, then Tiger may be one of the stupidest people in the world.
My final thought on this is about your Tim Tebow comment. Good work Bama!!!
The Buck, i thought you had those same tickets to suck Tiger Woods Nut Sack. What happened did you keep them all for yourself, cause i could sell them to every member over 50 out at the country club.
Have A Day!!!!
Maybe I should clarify where I'm coming from.....
ReplyDeleteI wasn't offended by "The Buck" and I don't believe he totally approves of Tiger's actions. But I am sick of our star sports athletes continuing to let us down. Even though I have never been a huge Tiger fan, I do feel let down.
What I am also tired about is the current thought of awarding Tiger the nameplate as "The Greatest Golfer Ever". It's just not so...... he's good, but until he takes over #1 in the following there's no way he takes over that title:

ALL COURSES ON WHICH MAJORS HAVE BEEN PLAYED ON BY BOTH JACK AND TIGER....some have been made longer and courses are manicured better now.
"The Buck", your insight is Great! on this sight. Keep up the great work. Our views are more alike than different. I'm just not ready to crown Tiger just yet. But, believe me, if he does win 19 pro majors and by then will also have most career wins, I'll be the 1st in line to place the jeweled, cellphone, KY Jelly, Cheating, Sex Addict, Non-Driving, chasing hotties crown upon his head!!!!!!
Love ya Buck! I gotta go now...I'm getting a text from one of my Bitchas!!!
Great statistics Fritz!!! Thanks for understanding my point of view and in the immortal words of Bradley Layfield... "I guess we will have to agree to disagree."
ReplyDeleteThis is the last I will say of the Tiger issue as I would like to move on to something else more nerve racking to bitch about (stay tuned).
A large percentage of the sporting media issues are comparing current great teams and players/athletes to past great teams and players/athletes.
Sport is so much about statistics and since a Jack in his prime can't play a Tiger in his prime or the 70's Steelers can't play the current Patriots, then we have nothing else to compare them by other then statistics.
It will forever be impossible to know who the greatest of all time is so their inlies the beauty of the whole matter. It's fun not to truley know and even more fun to debate it.
Some think Jim Thorpe is the greatest athlete of all time and given his dominiation in several athletic areas, and his stats, it is hard to argue.
But how can you compare Thorpe to our modern day athlete. There is no argument from me that Thorpe had great athletic ability. He certainly dominated his time. But if you sent our modern athlete back to the early 1900's would the modern athlete be more dominant? Or if Thorpe went forward in time and evolved, and had the physical training opportunities the modern athlete has, would he be as equal?? Who knows and no one ever will.
I think Tiger is a better player then Jack but I can't (deep down inside) argue the fact if someone puts him 2nd or 3rd. Below that I would have a issue though. Stats are just that, Stats... and so many intangibles go into them but it's the only bar we have to go by if you try and determine who is the overall greatest of all time.
I thought Tiger was much smarter then this. I can't say I was shocked when this story broke but to leave the electronic paper trail he did is just plain stupid. Hell, he has so much money he could of hired a currier service to send correspondence to his bitches. What a dumbass!!! Thats why we can't ultimately lookk up to athletes cuz they tend to always let us down. Sure, they are entertainers and are great at what they do but realize YOU are great at what you do and see if they could do it???
Til next time,
The BCS sucks!!!
