Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the world of professional sports it has been clearly evident that the Superstar Athlete rules the roost and management tends to ignore almost everything because of the talent and money making attributes the Superstar Athlete brings to their organization.

We all watch the likes of T.O., Chad Ochohomo, and Pacman Jones and get down right disgusted. We all proclaim that their is no way in hell one of these egotistical maniacs would ever be on a team we owned. Sure, they have great talent but most of their other intangibles are mere distractions and a effort to gain media attention and recognition.

Pro teams often bite the bullet and coddle these individuals due to their athletic prowess. There is no consideration for The Team and before you know it a cancerous plague begins to spread throughout the franchise. This usually results in a trade of the cancer so he may move onto another host and begin to infect them.

The one thing I can say is that the above mentioned, and others alike, is that they indeed have tremendous talent. Maybe that's why owners and management keep them around and deal with their BS. Maybe they are hoping the production will out way the drama.

This week I was delighted to see a team step up and rid themselves of their cancer. They did not wait until the end of the year nor did they seek a trade to try and salvage what was left. They merely said, we have had enough of this shit and released their Superstar Athlete on the spot. I am a long time fan and follower, I really commend the KC Chiefs for giving Larry Johnson his pink slip. FINALLY!!!!!!!

The more I thought about it the more I realized that their is a difference between the above mentioned and Larry Johnson. While they all have had similar legal, media, and discipline problems, their is one big difference. The above mentioned have talent and Larry Johnson sucks ass!!

When LJ was drafted in 2003 (1st Round) by the Chiefs I was very pissed off! I knew this was a terrible pick and my gut feeling has proven to be accurate. Sure, LJ had a great senior season at Penn State but if you look closer at what he accomplished you would be able to clearly see he was not all that. He gained just over 2000 yards his senior year and led the country, by a lot, in rushing yards and rushing average. That's great, right?? Consider the year before he rushed for a mere 300 and some odd yards. You would think a great back wouldn't take until his senior year to be great, let alone a first round pick.

Look at his senior stats as well. In four of his games he rushed for over 250 yards in each game. Awesome, right?? No!! These games were played against Michigan State, Illinois, North Western, and Indiana. The powers of the Big Ten!??! LJ gained over %60 of his 2000 yards in these four games. Look even closer and you will see that when he faced Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, and Auburn he did not break 75 yards in any of the games. See what I mean???

LJ then breaks onto the NFL scene in 2005 when KC's Priest Holmes gets injured. In 2005 he rushes for 1500+ yards and in 2007 he jumps up to 1700+ yards! Wow!!! Must of been a great pick, right?? No again! In those two years LJ was given the special gift of being able to run behind the best offensive line in football (arguably) at the time. I wouldn't expect anything less of a average back running behind Willie Roaf (12 Pro Bowls), Will Shields (11 Pro Bowls) and Brian Waters (5 Pro Bowls).

Guess what happened in 2007?? Roaf, Shields, and Waters retire and so does LJ's stats. See what I mean??

LJ sucked and it shows what kind of back he really is without a offensive line. Sure, you can say any good back needs a good o-line but I disagree. Barry Sanders didn't have one and look what he did. Stephen Jackson doesn't have one and look what he does in St. Louis.

LJ was nothing more than a one-hit-wonder at Penn State. KC bought into the hype like everyone else but fortunately they saw the light and didn't wait around to unload this cancer.

Til next time,

Throw the fade!!

glad to see your "Chefs" got rid of some dead weight. I wish more teams would do the same.
