Rock You Like A H U R R I C A N E - UM 33 GT 17
THERE BAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, just a little excited!! I've suffered the last 4 years while sticking by as my Canes were rebuilding and finally they look like the job is almost done. They won a thriller last week by beating #21 FSU. Tonight they crushed #14 GT and there vaunted option offense. If you recall GT put up over 460 yards rushing on the Canes last year. Tonight GT was held to around 100. Don't let the score fool you. Miami dominated and it easily should of been 40 to 3. GT's only two scores were bombs to there stud WR. Think Shannon would of paid a little more attention to the star 6'4 230 burner. I still think we are about a year away. Harris picked apart GT's defense and he looks to be the real deal. Lots of under classman and a great recruiting class.
The road ahead is tough though. Next week they play #13 VT followed immediately by the #12 Sooners. Later on they take on #24 NC who is a up and coming ACC team as well. Lets see.... There first four games are against top 20 teams and 5 top 25 teams are on there season schedule. Don't expect them to run the table but it certainly makes your team better by playing the better teams. I think they learned this from UF who has 2 top 25 teams on there schedule and who can forget Troy and CSU.
Two things that really bothered me during the game. 1) I hate when games are played on football/baseball hybrid fields. It doesn't look right and I'm sure it doesn't feel right.
2) Jesse Palmer was co-announcing with Craig James and Chris Fowler. Jesse would not shut the hell up and gave 5 minute dissertations between every play. Didn't help that every time Craig James said something he asked Jesse if he agreed. KNOW YOUR ROLE JESSE!! You were a backup at UF, a backup in NY, a jitbag on the Bachelor, so maybe somebody is trying to tell you something!?
Til next time,
Watch your six!!!

I never was much of a Caines fan in the 80's when Jimmy Johnson was the coach. I did root for them way back when Howard Schnellenberger brought the program back from the dead.
ReplyDeleteKinda like that again. I see the program gain a little humility over the past few years and Randy Shannon seems like a quality coach and individual.
Speaking of Coach Shannon, I think he is one of the up and coming bright young coaches in football. I like that he is a "U" alum who felt the desire to come back. I especially like how he has brought back other "U" alum to join the coaching staff. I mean, Michael Barrow made enough money with a decent NFL career and shouldn't have to work for the money. But here he is as a linebackers coach on the college level. Like them or not, the one thing about Miami is the deep affection the alumni have for the program, Anytime you see NFL players introduce themselves and their college "U" alum always are more than pround to say they come from "THE U".
I agree, Jesse Palmer is a "tool". Matter of fact, so is Craig James. (Trivia: Who was the other running back with Eric Dickerson at SMU? They were called "The Pony Express")
ANytime I tune in to a game and the announcing team contains those two I roll my eyes. It's painfull listening to them!
